How to fix your Facebook log in problems

,

Since the release of Opera 10.50 there has been reports that logging in to Facebook does not work. It should work as normal in Opera 10.50, as long as you reset your Facebook cookies if you were upgrading from a previous Opera installation. To do so, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Click on the O menu - Settings - Preferences.
  2. Click the Advanced Tab.
  3. Select Cookies - Manage Cookies.
  4. Search for any "Facebook" cookie(s) and delete them.
  5. Load www.facebook.com and log in.
  6. Success! You should now be logged in as normal. smile

If you are experiencing any other Facebook issues, please let us know as a comment.

We are waiting for Facebook to fix a small bit of code on their end before it works in Opera. Browser sniffing is bad mkay?

Genstor Friday, March 19, 2010 9:58:29 AM

I already did it, but it doesn't work for me ...
Moreover, when I do it and try to log in, I get security certificats alerts ... sad

This problem occurred for me after a clean install. I uninstalled my previous version of Opera and then manually deleted the profile folders in AppData before installing 10.50.

This is not about fb. Will anyone please guide me how to hide/remove from or edit friends/posts on my page. I sought help already from Opera HELP to no avail. Also, how do I place my main photo profile?

Many thanks!

So, If You're in contact with Facebook, can You ask them why tagging (with @ and showing Friends list) is no supported in Opera? It's the only NOT supported browser! (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari do!). I refuse to use other browser than Opera and I will not tag @ until Opera is supported smile

Rupal ChandraSmartflight Saturday, March 20, 2010 3:23:56 PM

Sick.
Deleting cookies worked fine for me.

I recently updated the urlfilter.ini, replacing it with Fanboy's Adblocking list.
Explains it very well.

We don't want work arounds (at least, not me). Find a permanent solution and get the next version out.

I love Opera since 10.50, and now I hate it!! sad

I discovered this solution myself, but I had to repeat these steps because the problem appeared again! I think this issue occurred about three times in the last 4-5 days. sad

If you have different problems than the one described in the blog post, I recommend searching the forums. This is not really the right place to report and get help with problems.

This issue still persists in 10.51, I run into every few days and have to clear a bunch of cookies for Facebook and Deviantart.

jAMIL aHMEDaunqur Tuesday, March 23, 2010 10:16:06 PM

i've done these instruction several times. cleared all cookies. sometimes works and goes blackout again after next session or some days.annoying thing is, it doesn't work when urgent.p so at that time i have to go to secondary browser and if this happens may be opera will be my secondary browser. scared

my system info: windows7 ultimate 32bit. core I3 2.13GHz, 2GB DDR3

JamalB Tuesday, March 23, 2010 11:40:54 PM

i recently installed 10.51 and now when i delete the cookies i still cant login.

Taufiq Ahmedtareqf1 Wednesday, March 24, 2010 2:12:25 AM

is this problem solved in 10.51?

Icarus FordeIcarusForde Wednesday, March 24, 2010 2:59:16 AM

Nah, it's not working for me. I've tried all the solutions that apparently 'work' on this page, clearing cookies, masking as firefox, masking as anything else, secure logins, mobile logins, lite logins, even going as far as to try logging into the iPhone version of it, and nothing works. Absolutely nothing when I want it to. Cleared my cache, all my cookies (there goes hundreds of sites to login to again...) and anything else I've found on the net. Nothing.

It works sporadically, but all of a sudden, it logs me out and then it's back into endless loops. Bloody annoying, cmon Opera Devs and get your act together.
