Do you think that javascript fixes through browser.js have made major websites like GMail less likely to fix their websites themselves, and puts the burden on Opera to fix things for them?

"What percentage of resources & workforce is allocated to all the various development areas (ie. bug fixing; new features; performance improvement; security; stability; media promotion)"?

Will Opera Link functionality be expanded, and if so, when? E.g. synchronizing passwords/wand (with extra password for security, and possibility to remotely remove the passwords from all other linked applications through link.opera.com), rss feeds, settings and more?

Hi,

Is it possible to include password syncing with Opera Link ? It'll be great if this is possible. This is one of the reason I am increasingly using Xmarks on Firefox when i move around my computers. However, I still prefer Opera and hope to see this feature if its possible!

Also, a simple download manager that can download multiple parts at one go would be nice too.

Two questions:

1. Will there be ICC color profile support?
2. Jon- if you could start all over again, would there be anything you would have done differently?

Will the next release of Opera Desktop support new features of the Windows 7? Features such as: new taskbar integration, jumplists, Aero skin and multitouch gestures? It's a big opportunity to get ahead of Chrome, Fx and Safari - and grab some extra attention wink

WHY NOT BE COMPATIBLE?

Opera has been my default browser for many years. However, lately I have been forced to switch to IE to be able to interact with a growing number of non-standards-compliant Web sites which use Microsoft-specific extensions.

As a programmer since 1965, I quickly learned not to beat my head against walls; specifically, sometime around 1966, I gave up insisting that MY code was perfect and that REALITY was defective.

What reasons do you have for refusing to force Opera developers to adapt to the reality of the Web today? Why are you not analyzing exactly what IE allows and making Opera allow the non-standard coding to work just as well on your far-superior browser? I would PAY YOU MONEY (or donate money -- I have always paid for shareware) for a license to use Opera anyway (it is that good) but I would think that even more people would be willing to do so if you made it the universally-compatible browser.

Have you by any chance ever read <a href="http://my.opera.com/hallvors/blog/">Hallvors miscoded blog</a>? If you had you would be aware that this is precisely what Opera attempt to do every single day. Being a programmer for well over 40 years might give you a concept of how incredibly complex something like this can be, but on the other hand it depends on your area of expertise - if it is purely in coding for a compiler you may not fully grasp the incredibly unpredictable dynamics of adaptive parsers when it comes to dealing with invalid code.

When will we see a development of Opera for Symbian? Opera 8x doesn't work too well with my E90 and Opera Mini crashes the phone. I would love to be able to use Opera Link on my device.

I would gladly pay for an up-to-date version of Opera on my phone, although I understand that contracts with operators/carriers are the areas you are focusing on at the moment.

I'd like to ask what do you think about the Mobile web future?

does the deal btw Oracle and Sun Microsystem affect the Opera Mini development? is it a good or bad news?

do you look at the OperaMini forum sometimes?

shall the next Opera Mini release have a grid like navigation feature?

some Phone carriers did an iPhone data plan with a dedicated APN, why not an Opera data plan?

how do you feel being a David against Goliath, in the web environment I mean!

The answer is here: http://www.opera.com/support/kb/view/145/

BTW, Opera staff, please note that search doesn't work properly in at least those two places.
Search in the knowledge base of word "name" doesn't return the article even though the word is in the title. I guess it is because it searches by tags, but no real tags are defined for this and other articles.
The search on main page opera.com (bottom-right corner) doesn't work at all. After 1 minute of waiting for result, a page just reloads, no result shows up.
Please fix it.

What you mean a twitter client? I guess Twitter is just a web-page. So you can add it as a panel and with one click go back there and drop a line anytime you want.

EspenAO: How about, for the last round of questions, including only the ones that haven't been asked yet? There's so many of them it's hard to read them all carefully, and why ask for the fifth time about the same, making it harder to notice the fresh ones that didn't yet get a chance to be asked... I thought it was ment to work that way...

I submit only fresh questions:

1. Will Transfer manager get any update - with multipart-download, limiting of used bandwith and more useful features? It didn't get a single update for years. There are some wishlists on forums containing more very good ideas for improvements.

2. My question from this and this post has been overlooked. I will sum it up briefly.

The question is:
Do you work on giving users hints about useful Opera features from Opera interface - like "Tips panel" or "Tips widget" (installed by default) or else? Opera interface seems to be the most effective way, as few people look for features in help/on site.

Few more words of justification to consider:
Opera has hundreds of useful features but rarely anyone knows really many of them. And many fresh users drop Opera after few days (or hours) of trying it out, as they didn't notice anything special about its functionality.
The need to educate people how they can squeeze the most of Opera seems obvious. Help files and Opera web site are not enough for that.

+1

- > This could be a solution for others software intregation with opera if userjs accept cross domain xmlhttprequest and preferences storage like widget, also if opera accept widget intregation with the browser like example minimize or places them to some toolbar in the opera.

- > There some functions hidden in opera that only the advance user editing opera .ini files can have access, like increase the color number in skin color scheme(its was nice if there a real color choose), audio player... Opera have plans to end them?

We want to give new readers/visitors a chance to vote on all questions asked, not just the newer ones. I think this has worked out pretty good and we now have 10 questions for Jon and the last 3 will be picked tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm closing this thread now. Remember to <a href="http://my.opera.com/chooseopera/forums/topic.dml?id=274347&t=1240819330">vote on questions</a>!
