It's 1 MB so I won't display it in the post.

This is what I would like my configuration to be but my family wants there sites as a speed dial entry also. Idea  We should have sets like one for each person or one for work and one for home.

Tamil has a great tutorial on changing the thumbnails... and the background and number of tabs are most easily changed in the latest Opera 10 Beta

Edit: look at the Opera Image Dial Generator as well (tip via kindai)

Thanks WOFall, I didn't want to wait and started looking at different stuff. Tamil has great tutorials. I have been working on my speed dials and they look so nice now. Opera 10 is makes it all work!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Do your speeddials look like a puzzle if you resize Opera? p:

I'm trying to guess how did you get those fully opaque icons and the only thing I can think of is using a single image with the icon and a piece of the background as thumnails. Am I right?

Not at all  You need to find a skin that has a transparent speed-dial thumbnail background. If you want, you can edit this into your own skin.zip file (if you can figure out how p: ). For example http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=8793

Not exactly ground-breaking design-wise, but it IS full of gradient-y goodness!

I like "ukiyo-e". I like Hokusai. And I like this image ( "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" ).
So, I used this image as a background-image of my speed dial.

I think, he used two layers. The top layer is a rectangle, with a solid color(gray) and it has a 1 px stroke with the same color. The layers opacity is 100%, and the fill 10%. The bottom layer is a rectangle with a cutted out circle. The color is white, with 20% oppacity and 100% fill.
