My OperaMy trip to see Jason

So, on March 2nd, I drove from Edmonton to Jasper to see a friend I haven't seen in literally years. The short and quick of it; it was great seeing him again. It was honestly like no time had passed. I can't say I didn't notice that some time had passed. There was a few huge changes. As I wrote earlier, Jason and Peggy are now married with a baby on the way. I got the see a picture of their ultra sound - very cool. You know, thinking about it, we have cameras that can take images of Pluto but we still have these low rez, black and white, 1950's X-Ray style ultrasound images. I don't get it. Regardless, Peggy had baby glow which was very cute and both where very happy.
While there Jason and I got to visit the Pyramid Lake Resort. Not much of a resort really. The look of the resort itself is very poorly handled. But, beautiful landscape. I can see why Jason fell in love with the place. The resort is the reason Jason went to Jasper originally. As the story goes, lots of changes where made to the food and as a result Jason has won awards. Which I think is phenomenal. Jason has always been extremely talented; one of his strongest talents happens to be food.
And here is a tangential story. Milena and I have friends here in Calgary one of which, Andrea, is a grad of my program from the University of Alberta. Andrea and her partner Taylor have traveled numerous times to Jasper and stayed at Pyramid Lake Resort on recommendation. They like the food so much they have gone back a number of times. The last time they where there was latish 2005. They were very disappointed to here Jason was no longer there but wanted me to pass along a message - the food was awesome.
So, they showed me where they got married, and told me a few cool stories. We went for supper and then headed to the Athabasca Hotel for drinks. I got to meet Jason’s new boss - Evil Dave. He is not evil but the name of his new restaurant is.
