I try to see the world from different perspectives and to enjoy it at its best. I am not easy to motivate for everything, as I have a critical and questioning mind, but if I once get something into my head, than I try to do it as perfect as possible. I have found out, that rational decision making and thinking might be sometimes, but definitely not always be in advantage against the simple “just-doing” - and so it goes:

There was no tangible motive existing for going to Estonia. It was rather a feeling, driven by the wish to see something new, to see the world beyond the borders of Germany. While I attended High School in Saxony and enjoyed the cultural life of Germany’s “masterpiece of restoration”, Dresden, my arrival in Estonia marks the beginning of a new episode. The European Voluntary Service (EVS) brought me into a little community in the woods in Southeast Estonia, called Maarja Küla. It is a village for mentally disabled youngsters, where I lived and worked for one year as, let’s say, rather the big brother than as a usual worker. I had time – I guess something, not everybody claims to possess – I had time, and I used it to try a lot of things I haven’t done before. I discovered travelling and photography, I convinced somebody in a doggerel Estonian language over half an hour how important it is to brush the teeth in the evening and he showed me in return that lights and lamps are simply awesome. Later, somewhere in the Estonian swamps and bogs, I got to know Janika and learned that even more things in life are simply awesome.

One thing I always have in my room is a world map. I study Geopolitics and International Relations and I spend basically every day some time reading the world news. There are so much things going on in the world influencing our lives, but how often it is just all about money. The University of Dundee, where I'm taking my courses, is located at the east coast of Scotland.

Three years, three countries. These days I’m in Vancouver, Canada, as exchange student at Simon Fraser University.
