I Want my MTV.. No I want my iPod Touch to be like the iPhone 4.

Every day, sometimes two or three times, I bring up my home page, Google, and click on "News" and then on "Sci-Tech" so that I can keep informed with the latest news about computers, smart phones and tablets. Actually, I have a short cut button on my "Favorites" bar in Internet Explorer and have a shortcut for it on the iPod Touch. Less clicking that way.
I am having a quandary because, I am eligible to get a new smart phone at Verizon. I have a Blackberry Storm first generation now. I do like it, but I do not like the email format or the web browser. What I really want is an iPhone 4 without the phone part which is rumored to arrive in September as the latest iPod Touch. There are rumors that iPhone will be available from Verizon in Jan. '11. In the meantime the Droid line is making leaps and bounds trying to be better than the ISO 4 operating system of Apple as indicated in the article at this link: http://online.barrons.com/article/SB50001424052970203296004575351032162702178.html
If these rumors do not come to fruition, I am entertaining the idea of buying an iPhone 4 without a contract later in the year. I also plan to take a look at the Droid X when it is released on the 15 of this month. I just know that I will not get the iPhone, another Blackberry, or a Droid anything (with a service contract) because, I have to use the WiFi feature to use any of them.
I have to admit that the more I use the iTunes store the better I like it. The store has a tab "iTunes U" short for "University" which has a course on every subject in academia and they are free. I am currently doing the MIT Physics one course, and I am looking for an introductory Calculus course. I need that to keep up with the Physics course. The tab for pod-casts has many short stories, classics, some you read others are audible, and of course, a plethora of Techie information.
Cell phone service at my house is not good enough for using a smart-phone to surf the web, so I had to set up a WiFi in the house using Hughes Net. That is why I do not need the phone part of an iPhone, or any smart-phone. I want the gyro, camera, and FaceTime features of the iPhone 4. If I have to pay Hughes Net to hook up to the net, I do not need to pay a cell company for service that I can not use, as the smart-phones are WiFi capable. There is an app, Whistle, for the iPod that gives you a phone number similar to Skype so you can make and receive calls from it. Another app, Text Free, allows you to text with it. So who needs to have a service contract?
I have decided that I do not want a tablet such as the iPad, I like the size of the iPod better and I can read books that I buy from Audible.com or the iTunes store just fine. My brother, Paul, stopped by the house a few weeks ago while he was on his way home to Kansas City after picking up a new work van down in Raleigh. He recommended an author Clive Cussler and the book "Corsair". Great day, that one book was like having every one of the Indiana Jones books rolled into one.
I can get audible books for free from this site:http://freeclassicaudiobooks.com/ Most of the books at this site are the ones I should have read when I was much younger, but better late than never.
Oh well, I am really waiting for the little chip that will be implanted in the brain and I'll have instant access to everything visual and audible that is on the net.
