About me

I was fascinated by widlife, even at a young age.
I obtained both a BSc and MSc in Biology at University. My MSc thesis was on NZ's pseudoscorpions.
Realising that this offered few career prospects, I then did a PhD in environmental economics.

I am interested in issues relating to wildlife use.

My work

I am a senior lecturer at Massey University (New Zealand).

I teach the gritty, mathematical side to economics, including modelling and forecasting.

My research is more eclectic. I am chiefly interested in wildlife conservation, and how economics can help provide solutions to management, habitat-loss and harvest problems.

I have a microscope in my office, where I still identify cryptozoa. You can't it seems, take the zoologist, out of the economist...
