Very beautiful setting. I've never been to NZ although perhaps I'll get there one day.

I think given your interest in nature and wildife, it would be a shame not to make it to NZ

What helps with this shot is that it is from late winter so there's really no heat haze or similar to soften the details. Which I'll concede are much easier to spot on the full-sized pic...

I've only been to Auckland a couple of times and negotiated the Harbour Bridge. The Sky Tower wasn't built then. (Now that's ancient

)

This angle is new to me. And the way it encompasses the suburbs & the CBD with the tower and other high buildings in the same picture as the harbour and Rangitoto, is great. What is it on the horizon? Is that the Great Barrier Island?

I think I've been to Wellington more often than that

The shot is from scenic drive in the Waitakeres, so looking roughly NE. The pic looks even better at full size- otherwise you really have to know what you are looking for on this pic. But the skytower is quite a sharp image- which reflects the lack of heat haze and clear skies that morning.

The size and position of the island behind Rangitoto is in line with Great Barrier

If I ever reach New Zealand on my travels, I will be sure to explore every last corner!

But it's such a long way from here. I've only been to the southern hemisphere once (Zimbabwe) but who knows, maybe one day

Thanks MM- it hit just west of us. Better than last time when it only veered away at last minute. Number 2 spawn was a bit concerned as she was home alone.
