Interestingly, modern crocodiles are actually a fairly recent evolutionary lineage. This is despite the popular belief that crocodiles have evolved very little since their late Triassic/Early Jurassic origin.
During the break, I went to the Ti Point Reptile Park for a 'scaly-fix'. While most of the shots had to be taken through glass (sigh), some of them still had enough detail to be keepers.

The interesting thing about the tuatara (actually, there's quite a lot of interesting things), is that it is not a lizard.

Lizards and Snakes
Turtles and tortoises
Sphenodonts- of which the tuatara is the only surviving member left.
