Unfortunately it was getting late in the morning and the light was getting a bit harsh.

You mean you didn't don a 'croc-suit' and swim with them? Somewhere I think a photographer did just that (or he may have been disguised as a log). I can't find the link now. Drat!

Heh, given that the biggest predator of small crocs is big crocs, swimming amongst them was pretty much ruled out. That and the fact that you could only see half-a-metre under water.

I think it would be possible to swim with 'freshies' or other small crocodilians- that just hunt fish. Nile and estuarine crocs are just out of the question.

Wonderful shots! They look so clean compared to our alligators.

I think that was mostly where I was shooting. And they are quite a bit more active than alligators.

There are spots where they are quite muddy. We tried a few times to break into an area of the river where they were supposed to be very muddy- but without success. I so want to go back and keep trying.
