Saladin the Movie (Made in Malaysia)

:zip:Amazing that Malaysia can come up with such a project. Hopefully, the finished product will be as slick as the website. It seems a little too Disney by the way, just my 2 cents. Doa(pray) they make a decent movie.

Anonymous writes: there have been a lot of growing and developing animation studios around malaysia now, i dare say. heard of moonfx? flare studios? these are one of malaysia's top animation studios, just to name a few. the exposure to 3d animation is growing among young generations. i think it's time for malaysia to come up with this kind of thing. yes, it does look disney-ish but its a start rather than watching our old animation stuff (usop sontorian? keluang man?). ive actually seen the unofficial trailer via my lecturer and i have to say, even though they are yet to finalize the sound and some of the 3d rendering, the visual is awesome. it's a big leap. something to be proud of here. this is something we're (or at least, us, animators and some animation fans) waiting for.

Routermen writes: I just hope the final product is worth the hype. Previous releases of malaysian made animations were , sad to say .. ugly as hell. hey .. even disney's 1950's animation is better than what they have to offer. I have a feeling that Saladin's the animation will almost definately suffer the same fate .. and to the Production houses .. Please prove me wrong .

Will a series of Saladin follow the movie?

Anonymous Monday, April 17, 2006 5:45:01 PM

SG Guy writes: I think you shld take 1 thing at a time ... lets see if this gets implemented 1st b4 u can think of others. Considering that they r looking for RM10m to fund this project, that leaves alot of question unanswered ... like who will pick the tab :P

Algerino writes: salam i want to ask something to the production house , when is this movie is officialy released. Is it going to be in worldwide production ( in cinemas ) or just in malaysia? .... and please make more notice of it, it caught my eye because am doing a historical research. More people want to know about this. And if you finish this movie try and start something envolving the arabs in north africa introducing '' Al- Andalus '' in the year 711 lead by '' Tariq ibn ziad ''. inshallah these ideas get through and make something out of it. thank you salam

Anonymous writes: Thats the problem with the local entertainment industry. If they somehow have allocated the budget for production .. they will most definately be lacking on marketing , and vice versa.(In worst cases, there isnt a budget for marketing at all) Thats why we knows (mind you) jack sh*t about the animated movie Saladin. Non of the government agencies nor local entertainment industry giants are willing to show support/lend a hand. That is why it is difficult for local entertainment industries to survive .. locally, especially on cartoon + animated + manga + anime + media. This is not the same senario in our neighbouring country (filipina). Its a multi million dollars industry. Now what is wrong with our country ? My personal opinion ? Its our people. There's just not enough demand for such material/product. Before the industry can be changed .. its our people who needs to change... or the same fate will be for repeated again and again .. and domestic man power will decreases as people will shy away from such non promising carier. Graphic designer ? Animation ? 3D modeling ? .. doomded !!

Whiteblade writes: The Saladin trailer definitely showcases the technical grasp the Malaysian company Silver Ant has on 3D animation. While it is a vast improvent from its predecessors, I hope that it will not just become one scenic 3D tour of today's CGI marvels. Like with all animations, it is the ability to portray endearing human qualities in the characters and the storyline that makes an animation top notch. I hope Saladin will sucessfully avoid going down the path of Finay Fantasy the movie and its likes. While marketing the Malaysian animation industry as a capable candidate for handling out-sourced jobs from animation giants like Dreamworks, Pixar is a good thing, I hope that Malaysians would go beyond the 'I can do it too' mentality, and adopt the 'I can do it better' mentality. To be recognized as a lead player in the any industry, being 'just as good as the next person' just won't cut it.

malaysiabutter writes: guys --- movies and tv series are two different things. it is known that the first production will be 13 episodes of tv series ... and hopefully followed by a feature movie. the quality for tv series should not be expected to be that of a feature film. the trailer is for feature movie and not for tv series -- so expect less.

routermen writes: after all this time, i think the hype has cooled down, yet the movie is no to be seen , let alone the promotions. What happen ?

Anonymous Thursday, April 12, 2007 1:10:28 AM

malaysiabutter writes: routermen -- didnt u read the news? the 2 episodes are completed; the 11 remaining episodes by early next yr. when will they release the 2 episodes ... dunno yet. i think the production is planning how to manage ppl expectation because they saw that trailer which was meant for movie which would be completely different when compared to tv series. .. i hope the tv series are best of its class (tv series class).

paperclip writes: Sadly to inform you guys that the saladin animated series isn't done by Silver ant. Silver ant just do the "TRAILER" for the animated series. Yes, it is true and i saw the first two episodes of the series. Damn, it really sucks and i have no idea why do they ever bother to develop in the first place. How bad is the series, DAMN BAD. The characters aren't develop properly, no sense of color, and worst of all the characters is badly rig. Damn @#@$@#%%. However, animation wise is okay because they uses mocap.

Anonymous writes: It's a shame a certain animation studio thinks it's acceptable to set up in places like Malaysia and the Philippines and hire or "train" locals to produce their work for free. Especially when the studio is selling it's work in western countries. Hopefully in the future there will be more respect and better pay for the talented artists in these countries.

Dr Afzal Sarwar writes: Did you know that with the budget of 10 million for a 13 tv episode is a bit out of proportion , a production company can basically crate a film with a budget of under 300k only example senario and ngangkung by metrowealth.. that means a company can come out with nearly 35 films with a budget of 300k a year. as we know metrowealth is the production company that produces more films than any other company in malaysia... and a normal rate of 15 films is already too much for them.... plus RTM the tv channel only pays as much as below 1 mil for animated series... that means salahudin made a lost of 9 million.... just something to share

Does anyone know how someone could buy these cartoons especially the saldin ayubi animation series,I havent been to find any such website where muslim parents could buy them. we need these cartoons to provide an alternative to muslims kids who contantly exposed to cartoons that are based on unislamic ideology and has a negative imapact on their mental wellbeing.
