while watching the ominous black clouds gathering, see a seven strong squadron come flying towards us.

Trying desperately to hold their wing tip formation steady in the strong wind they swoop lower and take a turn around the boat before being swallowed up in the black clouds. It’s only a few moments and they are back again, formation pattern a little more ragged but now their landing gear is down and they descend on their final landing approach. Long spindly stick thin gear hanging limp but ready absorb any rapid height adjustment as our boat rocks and rises with the waves and wind.

It’s a scrabbling of long toes and gangly legs as they touch down on our solar panels. Trying desperately to maintain their balance, like first timers at the ice rink, except this ice rink is on a fair ground ride of its own, their legs go skating off independently of each other. We could feel the effort and concentration of trying desperately to keep the feet together knowing that at any moment you’ll have the challenge of standing on one leg only while you bring the other that has strayed back into line. Maintaining balance and position was hard enough on two legs!
