Since man is born separated from God because of sin, someone must mediate
reconciliation. As God's perfect man and man's perfect God, Jesus is the
only One qualified to reconcile God and man. He changes their relationship
from one of enmity and hostility to one of peace and harmony. "God was
in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses
against them...He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that
we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Cor. 5:19-21).
