Expand Your Territory
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
Yesterday, I told you the story of Alma in Guatemala and how she prayed for food for only one day at a time.
How about you? Is there something you are holding back? What is your heart's desire, the real need, the seemingly impossible need you have not even bothered to ask God for?
In the prayer of Jabez, the writer asks God to expand his territory. He prays, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain" (1 Chronicles 4:10).
For Alma, expanding her territory meant food to feed her children for more than one day and a house strong enough to withstand the rains. What does "expanding your territory" mean for you? God wants to give you exceedingly beyond anything you could think or hope (see Jeremiah 31:14).
I want to help build your faith today and see you open your heart to the God who loves you beyond your expectations.
Don't be so lost in your personal pain and so hesitant to approach the throne of grace that you close yourself off from asking God for the blessings He wants to give you.
