eh eh, i know where you from

,

and i'm from Vietnam
BONJOUR VIETNAM- HELLO VIETNAM this beautiful song will help me introduce you my country through the sweet voice of a Vietnamese-Belgian singer who know about her home country only through her parent's stories but sang with all the love in her heart

here are the lyric in English ( click the link to hear English version ) croll down for French and Vietnamese
Tell me all about this name, that is difficult to say.
It was given me the day I was born.
Want to know about the stories of the empire of old.
My eyes say more of me than what you dare to say.

All I know of you is all the sights of war.
A film by Coppola, the helicopter's roar.

One day I'll touch your soil.
One day I'll finally know my soul.
One day I'll come to you.
To say hello... Vietnam.

Tell me all about my colour, my hair and my little feet
That have carried me every mile of the way.

Want to see your house, your streets. Show me all I do not know.
Wooden sampans, floating markets, light of gold.

All I know of you is the sights of war.
A film by Coppola, the helicopter's roar.

One day I'll touch your soil.
One day I'll finally know my soul.
One day I'll come to you.
To say hello... Vietnam.

And Buddha’s made of stone watch over me
My dreams they lead me through the fields of rice
In prayer, in the light…I see my kin
I touch my tree, my roots,my begin

One day I'll touch your soil.
One day I'll finally know my soul.
One day I'll come to you.
To say hello... Vietnam.

One day I’ll walk your soil
One day I’ll finally know my soul
One day I’ll come to you
To say hello…Vietnam
To say hello…Vietnam
To say xin chào…Vietnam

Raconte-moi ta maison, ta rue, raconte-moi cet inconnu,

Severin Sadjina 5. June 2009, 12:29

Oh oh, zetorres.

3.) For the statistics it (most likely) matters from where you access the webpage!

Severin Sadjina 5. June 2009, 12:30

But at any rate, Norwegians seem to like opera (I wonder if that might be because opera is Norwegian  )

José Torres 5. June 2009, 13:26

Funny thing, that ... I keep telling my Norwegian friend about Opera, but he's using something else.

Claude 17. June 2009, 14:36

Lena can you speak French? I ask because the song here is in French!

der Wandersmann 17. June 2009, 14:49

It is a rare Vietnamese who doesn't know at least a little French. Remember history!

steven 18. June 2009, 00:19

they don't speak any french, usually

Claude 18. June 2009, 01:35

Hello Steven  Do you know where we can find the button "add to friends" now?

Hello derWandersmann, that history becomes old, so I have noticed that young people can't speak French most of the time :sherlock:

lena 18. June 2009, 17:19

hi everyone - Comment Ça va :D :D?
the song was written by a French composer and performed by a Vietnamese Belgian singer.that's why the original is in French. later, because of its succeed in Vietnam and among Vietnamese oversea, it's translated to English.
i don't know how you feel when listening the song, but for me and most vietnamese people, it's hard to keep emotion...

i have learned French during my primary and secondary school but after moving to the south with my family, i studied english at high school until now. and as a result,i forgot most French while learning english

and claude, you are right at one point, that history becomes old but it's not exactly to say young people can't speak French. this is just a personal idea, i feel that people in the south prefer English and in the north, they like french.but anyway, the number of people learn English is alwasy big bigger French many times ( and there always have a huge gap between learning and using a language   )

lena 18. June 2009, 17:27

steve, you are right, we don't use French to communicate in daily life, only vietnamese is prefered

lena 18. June 2009, 17:34

and wandersmann, although french was really popular in the past but not everyone can manage it. it's the language for someone educated or work for the government.

Claude 18. June 2009, 17:42

Thank you Lena for all those explainations  That's interesting! I know that actualy English is the most used and useful language, and French start to be like Latin: for educated people

PS: I have added you as my friend, because I just found the button now! So I have pushed it quickly before it disappears once again :bandit:

lena 18. June 2009, 17:52

:D :D i'm thinking about learn French again, i don't want to waste what i have learned but a bit fear cos its grammar is awful :yuck:

steven 18. June 2009, 18:06

I had vietnamese colleagues in college, so i know a lot
Claude, some french politicians are heavily contributing to the decreasing number of french language speakers :frown:
On the other hand, too many french are underrating their own language.
A serious issue is: in computing you have chosen a vocabulary so different from the english that i am totally cofused

Claude 18. June 2009, 20:24

Yes you're right Lena, the grammar is difficult but not as difficult as the one of German as I have heard

Steven, our academicians are afraid to lose the French if they don't use French word for the computing vocabulary. On my side, I feel tired about so many languages, I have learned Japanese but now I don't care about because English is the key to contact the world

My Memory 20. June 2009, 09:04

Bài hát rất tuyệt đúng không!

lena 20. June 2009, 09:56

but speaking French is so great, isn't it? i really like the accent of French, the way we pucker our lips when speaking, like we are kissing . is that why it's called language of love?
how many language did you learn, claude?

lena 20. June 2009, 10:05

uh, nghe thich that day.nhung chua duoc xem cai clip chinh thuc cua no.

Claude 20. June 2009, 13:05

Only Japanese and English. About 16 years ago when I was looking to learn an Asian language, I was thinking to learn Vietnamese because your country makes me dreaming, but I haven't found a school or even book for Vietnamese. If I was living in Paris maybe there's all of that there. That's why I started Japanese and I have met a lot of Japanese students...

steven 21. June 2009, 02:04

The interesting issue is this: right hand french governs support Romania, left hand french governs support Hungary. The issue is: nobody learns french in Hungary. In Romania it is easy, languages are alike, french tradition is long.
In 1980 50% of romanians could speak (more or less) french.
Now, bc of the computers and "dear" François Mittérand, only 25%. Voila

Claude 21. June 2009, 08:31

I didn't know that about Romania? Romania bellongs to the European countries now...
http://europa.eu/abc/european_countries/index_fr.htm
I could go and get a work, Steven  :D

lena 21. June 2009, 18:27

steven, you have new profile picture, look like a politician...

steven 22. June 2009, 02:09

:sst: it's an actor, Lena p:

lena 22. June 2009, 06:14
