63 days, 10000, 5000
2 months and 2 days after deciding to focus on the goal of 5,000 visitors, I now see exactly that many in the statistics counter. It is fitting that it should happen this month as this blog is now right around 1 year old so this is the best anniversary gift this blog can get. This blog got between 56 and 57 visitors a day since June 25th and averaged 14 per day over the year. It goes to show what a difference it makes when you show an interest and concentrate your efforts in a particular direction, a laser beam is effective farther than a flashlight at least as far as diffusion is concerned. I'm not going to appear so fanatical about trying to reach ten thousand visitors but of course it will be on my mind. I have to think about something. I thank all of you who show an interest in this blog for posts or photos or just exploring the virtual community grounds like I often do. I have 3 disposable cameras ready to have developed in Walla Walla but I'm not sure how to go about it yet. Labor day is coming up so I get my SSI at the end of this month but when I get my foodstamps, the buses to Walla Walla won't be running so I might end up taking two trips even though that costs $7.50 more to get non food stuff one trip and food stuffs the second trip and get the film developed at a 1-hour place on the first trip. I like this apartment a lot and I'm getting used to living here but the monthly commute and all the hassles and miscommunications therein are starting to wear on me a bit. Plus the uncertainty principle, I could die right here sitting and doing nothing but I still feel safer here than on a bunch of winding roads. Last month I took a particular bus on a particular day at a particular time and if I left one day earlier at the same time, I would have been involved in a wreck. Things are designed to happen when they happen so there's no sense in worrying about it however tempting it might be at times. Anyway, back on subject, I accidentally left the flash on one of the cameras and wore the battery out and kept the camera for a while, so if the film is any good, I'll have Walla Walla and Dayton film in the same camera covering several months. There's a couple of good ones I hope turn out OK. Till next time and on to the elusive 5th digit.

etc., somewhat, 5000
I thank all for visiting this blog especially in helping with the road to 5000. There are 3,439 visits left to go with roughly half a year to do it in. If I get 20 clicks a day from your helpful fingertips, then the goal would be achieved with about a week left to go. At this rate, 5000 can be reached by October or a little sooner, but the goal is still the end of the year. Don't worry about drying this goal up too early, because numbers can go up higher than I can count plus there are other types of goals that I might find or come up with. I'm thinking about adding a poll about the user picture I should use. I'm suffering somewhat of an identity crisis in that area where I want this blog to develop a personality and I can't seem to grasp it, so I'm not trying to drive anyone bonkers or even get attention by being disruptive. I merely am having another bout with needing to make up my mind but just not quite getting there. I don't even know how I should do the questions so that all the different combinations of things I've tried can be covered in 5 or fewer questions. I think like 1)picture of me 2)pictures in the uploaded albums 3) The desktop wallpaper I'm using at the time 4)combination of 1 and 2 5)combo of 1and 3....etc. See, it's covering the combinations where the difficulty comes in. Maybe take the ultimate risk and say if you do this and thus and that, then I have to use the picture you link me to as long as it's legal. I don't know if I'm that brave or not yet. We'll see. I'll move the stats to this post. If anyone would explain how to do sticky posts, I'm all ears (as you can see from my pic) or I should say all eyes. If I do enough posting, maybe I'll get some sleep tonight. Bye for now.

degree, visitors, 5000
For some blogs, this might be considered a slow day while others are just 'dummy' blogs used by shy and/or paranoid people who look at others' blogs under assumed identities. I do not do that myself but merely suspect they exist. The milestone for this blog is 16 visitors from 8am to 8pm on the date of this post. I don't think I've done better than that. I admit that I have visited more popular blogs that I knew had the most recent visitor thing up and I jazzed up my ID pic a little bit and of course I've added more pictures to increase my tagnet dragnet or tagcloud dragnet- my name isn't Friday but it is getting close to Tuesday. Thanking my visitors may have had a little to do with it along with admitting I need the attention. Pathetic I know but if I don't keep a degree of humbleness, then that would be real bad for this blog. I've been blessed mightily at times but in return there are plenty of life's needles around in case I get puffed up and full of myself and I'm actually thankful for the overall effect although individual circumstances are hard at times.
The recent visitors thing is a mystery to me. I'll preface what I'm about to say by saying that I'm glad for all my visitors whether I know who you are or not, and the ones who are on my recent list consistently are always welcome to keep it on there. Now for the mystery, I've noticed some user names come and go very quickly and others seem to always be there and it seems to be at least partially independent of the rate at which they are visiting. I've visited a blog or two that also used this feature and I've looked for controls that say keep my id on here or don't let it show up on here or keep it here for a day only. Nothing I could find would suggest this. Now I am not good at script at all and some people are including someone who commented on an earlier post. I am a Johnny come lately when it comes to understanding blog features at all let alone the hidden substrate (script) of it all. It's all smoke and mirrors to me. I don't mean to sound like I'm putting myself down, because I do have some abilities, some of which while not spectacular do elude my own ability to describe them. In school I've understood math and other difficult subjects until we got into the more complicated things where managing details was necessary, then I had to put more effort than the average person it seemed. What I could and still do is see an abstract of the big picture and describe things in quirky artistic ways that others don't seem to do. Whether that's an ability or a need for meds or therapy I don't know. I know I don't need meds come to think of it because I've been down that road. Those are invariably poison,Legal and otherwise.
Anyway, I'll circlejerk back around to the main topic. My total blog visits are 1435 so I've had 435 since the post where I reached 1000 so my visits per day averaged in the double digits probably this whole month which in itself is another milestone. I guess it goes along with 'you get what you pay for' or you get a return based on the amount of true effort, or in other words, the amount of yourself you put into something. I wonder how many the most popular ones are getting and if they've crashed their section of the system from the visits they get. I am going to go out on a limb and try for 5000 visits by the end of this year. seems impossible but if we focus on it-it has to be we as while I technically could do it very easily myself, I don't want to be alive and that bored at the same time so if enough of you are interested in this game/effort or whatever-this goal, then help out if you like. You might even blow me away with 10,000 but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'm starting it but finishing successfully is up to you.
