This world-wide recession started in the "housing market" and not just here in the States, either.........worldwide the prices of real estate market were allowed to grow at 20-25% a year for 4-5 before the burst....This is extremely good news because the Colorado real estate housing market and housing prices need stabilize in order for us to finally determine the amount of toxic assets that the banks and wall street hold......Good news.. Of course it's good news -- it shows that the free market can straighten itself out if given half a chance.
Not everything requires the heavy hand of government, nor does it require us to run up enough national debt to put the squeeze on our great-grandchildren.
Naturally, it's tough for people who tried to buy Breckenridge homes they couldn't afford, but it's not the government's job to guarantee a house for everybody in America. People have to live within their means and live in an apartment for a while if that's what it takes (I did for 17 years).
Not doing so is the reason we got in this economic mess -- we had Congressional "geniuses" like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd passing laws that were supposed to promote "affordable housing" for everybody ... even when they couldn't afford it.
Now they want hard-working Americans to pay for the mortgages they shouldn't have gotten in the first place. Can you say "tea party"?

I was thinking about home prices the other day.
