Halloween Hunt Winners
Thursday, 1. November 2007, 17:24:52

On Wednesday morning 10:00 AM UTC a notification icon appeared in the bottom lower right corner of our screen... "1 message received", it said. We stood sat in silence and awe as we confirmed this was it: The first response to this year's Halloween Hunt... How did anyone manage to complete the hunt? It was so difficult that even we had a hard time completing it.
We quickly realized that it was only a matter of time before everyone else had figured it out as well. And we were right... Shortly after, response number two, three, four and five came flying in. Omg, what's going on!? We've clearly underestimated how talented all of you are, so next year... Well, let's just say it won't get any easier!
Anyway, we got prizes to give away — and as stated in the first blog post:
The first 10 will get an Opera goodie-bag along with some sweet Norwegian candy for Halloween. The remaining 30 will get a goodie-bag, but have to buy their own candy for Halloween!
If you've provided us with correct shipping details you can expect a nice gift in your mailbox shortly courtesy of Opera Software. ![]()
Without further ado; here are the winners of this years Hallowen Hunt chronologically ordered:
We would like to congratulate everyone who won and participated! This marks (unfortunately) the end of this years Halloween Hunt... ![]()
We hope everyone had fun searching for hidden doors.
We sure enjoyed creating and developing this contest. ![]()

...on the sadder note, I have to say that there were some flaws on the technical side which might have prevented some people from completing this hunt. Both times you got to the page with the small evil eyes on it (Groups and My Account) you needed to refresh it in order to actually load them. If not, you might have not seen them at all. They were also based on JavaScript, which might have been disabled by some people, or simply produced errors. In addition, with #2 you needed to add "the" in order to proceed as well as put the answer to the question in the lower case, when it was far more commonsensical to use capital letters.

I didn't manage to find the last door (the one at "home") without turning off the style sheets (which of course is not the desired way, I know), but by looking in the source code I saw that it was just impossible otherwise...
Now I saw the screenshots and figured out why: I don't have a blog yet. So I don't have a "new blog entry", thus the second pairs of eyes didn't show up, so I couldn't click them and never get to evileyes3.
Just to be a nitpicker here. *g*
Anyway, it was lots of fun!

An advent calendar for people to open every day. With each "door" leading to a new christmassy Opera page.

But, seriously, we will have something cool...

Same here, wasn't able to see the second pair of eyes because I don't have a blog.
