Theme of the Month

theme of the month

For each month of the year we'll have someone special design a new blog theme for us. First out is our very own pixel monkey: Helmers. He used to work full-time for Opera, but has returned to the University to finish his degree.

Anyway, we're thankful he took time (of his busy schedule) to create this artwork for us. The theme is titled "Open Standards For Great Justice" and works perfect in combo with the following themes (and a black top bar):

  • The Darkside
  • Silver
  • Pirates
  • 16 bit Ninja
  • Movies

Please Tell Me: How Do I Use It!?

If you want to use the theme, then follow these simple instructions:

  1. Go to your account page.
  2. Click "design".
  3. Click "custom style sheet".
  4. Copy and paste the code listed below into the textarea.
  5. Select "use my custom style sheet together with the current theme".
  6. Click "save".
@import url("http://files.myopera.com/standardstheme/user.css");

oh, well, it looks kind of broken if you've got an extra bar next to the top bar (eg saying "1 news item")

Heathen Dan 22. January 2008, 14:56

Sounds like a great idea. I want more themes. And not just showy ones, I want minimalist ones as well. Thanks.

Furie 22. January 2008, 20:45

Chaosdragon, yes you can use it on Opera Mini.

Seluras and Heathen Dan, check my top album for some free to use themes including an Opera Mini one.

Gothic.O if you're using Mini 4, put it into Desktop view mode and you'll be able to see most themes.

Nice looking theme Helmers. Cool.

philry4n 22. January 2008, 23:25

It'd be nice if the code is put inside a textbox so Opera Mini user can copy/paste it

djosh_losh 23. January 2008, 00:10

cooool!!!!!! :D :D :D

Furie 23. January 2008, 00:11

Write it down on parchment like the ancients used to do with their internet codes.

philry4n 23. January 2008, 01:14

I ran out of ink. Should i use blood?

Furie 23. January 2008, 02:21

Yeah sure. It's traditional to do it in the blood of your first web installation engineer.

philry4n 23. January 2008, 04:52

I ran out of parchment. Can i skin you and then draw some blood as well

CHAOSDRAGON88 23. January 2008, 05:03

 Thanks mik, you always know what to say.

Furie 23. January 2008, 10:49

Use Chaosdragon. Dragon skin makes excellent parchment.

*passes a lance* You'll need this.

I just found this great site where you can create your own city and then send the link to all your friends and every time somebody new click on the city it will increase its population and it will be also improved. So go ahead and let`s build our own Opera City.
To get there just click on this link.

drwaqar 25. January 2008, 08:31

Amazing! A great theme by d great man. My heart is still flying to see such type of theme.

Furie 25. January 2008, 10:19

Tomas, it's bad enough that you're posting that city thing as a comment everywhere, but mailing people you don't know about it pisses them off ya know.

tomaskrajcovic 25. January 2008, 15:15

Sorry Furie I wanted to spread the word.

Furie 25. January 2008, 15:21

To spread the word, post on your blog then change your status to inform people you've had a new post. Even mail your friends. Doing it to strangers is spam, and can get you banned. After all, I know someone who once posted 200 posts in a night. You wouldn't like it if she informed you of every single one eh?

tomaskrajcovic 25. January 2008, 16:40

you are right I was afraid that people will consider this as spam. It was just so cool to have this little town..... I hate spam specially those about viagra (what makes them think I need one).
i have posted a blog about this site and I just wanted to speed up thing a little.
See you around

Heathen Dan 11. November 2008, 14:53

This, uhm, "theme of the month" thingie, is it still going? I haven't seen a new theme in months.

AleksOD 11. November 2008, 22:18

Yeah, are you still doing this?
