veronica 8. August 2008, 13:21

watching! amazing show:)

Aleksander 8. August 2008, 13:22

The fireworks was awesome!

Roy 8. August 2008, 13:31

No, I won't be watching. The stadia were constructed on the shattered hopes and dreams of the Beijing populace. Old men and women who'd lived there all their lives forcibly evicted and often beaten up to ensure that China could perpetrate this charade of being a democracy.

If I was a competitor I would refuse to take part, and as a potential viewer I will observe a boycott of the entire proceedings.

Artur "Jurgi" Jurgawka 8. August 2008, 13:38

This is not sport for a long time. It's business, money, pharmakology, and - especially lately - hipocrisy. Whoooa, "Coca-Cola – proud sponsor of Tibet occupation"? Suck.

Cois 8. August 2008, 13:44

Well I'm still watching..the need of the many outweigh the need of the few..
Although that might sound wrong and I'll be bashed for it by some its still just my opinion.. now when is South Africa going on the march? Ooh..

Dransem 8. August 2008, 13:47

Am watching too. Want to see KENYANS at their best

Raymond Noe Hu 8. August 2008, 14:05

Let the game begins

honeyparedes 8. August 2008, 16:55

Still watching, too bad, i thought someone whose historical and famous could light that torch.

The openning was awesome, i think no other can beat that. Too many performers have participated, it only prove how much they are populated.

Awesome fireworks.

Im looking forward for the US Dream Team and the Philippine Team as well.

Go Pinoys. Well done China.

Андрей Панов 8. August 2008, 16:57

For those who will not watch Olympics due to political reasons (Tibet, human rights, etc.):
1. It's not your country
2. Olympics is sport event, not political
3. Not all what Mr.Bush says is truth.

Arrum 8. August 2008, 17:03

I've watched the openning not a long ago, and that was wonderful! =O

Roy 8. August 2008, 17:17

@andrew3105 - 1. hence we should all ignore anything that takes place outside of our own countries borders? And we will all be blind to the suffering of others because they are not 'our' people? The Human Race are 'my' people, and any abuses perpetrated upon them should be decried and the instigators of such action brought to justice.

2. Olympic stadia built over the homes of forcibly-evicted people become political by their very nature.

3. I would personally never believe a single word that came out of the mouth of George W Bush..

I wish success to all the Chinese athletes and the people of China.

Olga 8. August 2008, 17:20

RUSSIAAAAAAAAAAA!:wink::yes: :hat: :drunk: :wizard: :headbang:
Will be there any sportmen from Turkey!?...

Carnage 8. August 2008, 17:28

That opening ceremony was amazing! Class act. And those fireworks, the timing, the planning, brilliant. I liked the bit were they created the footprints with fireworks.

The lighting of the stadium torch that was creativity at its best. Though it would have been cool if the entire roof lit up, in a circle i mean travelling towards the torch, well guess that would have been a bit of a safety hazard lol.

San 8. August 2008, 17:35

Swimming !

dirk 8. August 2008, 17:37

I don't mind what a "mr. bush" has to say - or any other of the so-called politicians - I got my own point of view ... watch, have fun, respect to the people

Hoàng Hữu 8. August 2008, 17:47

I support VIETNAM :hat:

Steve 8. August 2008, 17:50

Rooting n screaming!!
GO! KENYA!!!! GO!
:-(:-P

Andrew Nguyen 8. August 2008, 17:52

:wait: Our coverage doesn't start until 6:30PM USA Central...:faint:

San 8. August 2008, 18:09

@SouthernCross

Canadian coverage started on CBC this morning at 4:00 am PDT and will continue for much of the day, everyday. I know a lot of Americans watch our coverage.

Андрей Панов 8. August 2008, 18:39

@ Garion:
1. Yes, but Chinese culture isn't the same as Western, and I think China isn't "capable" to Western political standards.
3. I wasn't in China, so I don't really know situation there. Why you know this? From media? I live in Russia and know that almost all political info about my country in some Western countries' media is incorrect.

beautiful_thing 8. August 2008, 18:59

Will not watch.
Can't stand seeing pharmaceutically enhanced pseudo-athletes or giving dictators or greedy and corrupt IOC officials a platform to present themselves.

lilfairy 8. August 2008, 19:04

wow. that opening ceremony was absolutely amazing. still cant figure out how they did that effect at the beginning with the olympic rings. was really amazing. the next country to host has their work cut out to top that ceremony. im from south africa so i will be cheering on the sa guys.!!! i'll be watching the swimming. got some really good athletes in swimming, natalie du toit, ryk neetling. holding thumbs for u guys!!!!:hat:

Carnage 8. August 2008, 19:05

Thats true the media is hardly ever based on fact. Opinions become fact in this world :frown: and opinions are relative.

oh and olympics are starting at 4am local time (my local time). Way too early for me. I would wake up if it were formula one

Erinjogunola 8. August 2008, 19:22

We should expect the unexpected!!!

Katinka 8. August 2008, 19:32

I will! The inauguration was awesome! :eyes:
