Are you sure you get my point? Most media around the world including Olympic official site rank according to the number of winning GOLD medals, but US media rank according to total number of medals, this way it can still put itself as #1.

You are correct....China is #1, and amazingly UK at #3......but all in all regardless of whatever spin different countries media put on it, a fantasic games and well done to the Chinese nation!

Thank you both. China has 1/5 of the world population so don't be surprised to see China has more gold medals. Besides the competition I think China also cares a lot to be a good host. This is because 1)Chinese culture and 2) Chinese really want the world to understand China better. That's why while we Chinese complain the government spent a lot money for the Olympics at the same time people also volunteer to help out, hundreds of thousands volunteers in Beijing.
UK is doing very well, and London will be the next host, wish you good luck!
