Opera Mini 4.2

Good news, everyone! Today we have released the latest version of Opera Mini 4.2. Since the launch of the beta, speed trials have shown that this version gives more than 30% speed improvements for users in the US, due to addition of a new Opera Mini server park in ther United States.

This release also marks Opera Mini’s official availability on the latest version of the Android mobile platform. Opera Mini is now the first Web browser alternative on Android. A technical preview of Opera Mini was previously released for an earlier version of Android in April 2008. Users of Android-powered mobile phones, such as the T-Mobile G1, can now download a beta version of Opera Mini 4.2 and experience a faster and less costly way to browse the full Internet.

To celebrate we feel a visual power demonstration is needed. Enjoy our latest video we've made to launch the world's fastest browser for your mobile phone:

Opera Mini comics:

An e-card is an electronic post card. These new Opera Mini comics demonstrates a few "real life" scenarios where Opera Mini comes in handy. Sending an e-card from My Opera is very easy. Head over to the photo albums, choose a cartoon you like and click "Send as e-card". We suggest you try the new Opera Mini frame for these e-cards. :D

We've also localized the cartoons into the following languages:

Pass the video around to everyone you know. Also let us know if you've embedded it on your blog or Web site! :D

Nuno 25. November 2008, 10:59

Ahlacra: the US servers actually will have a positive impact on all users since we will spread the traffic around. In Asia you should also see real improvements in speed since it will be faster to access US based sites.

Gaddag 25. November 2008, 16:24

Will the new final OM 4.2 rewrite the old 4.1, or the 4.2 beta? Or will it be another independent app?

Dagonet XIV 25. November 2008, 16:36

woah. its fast!

53north 25. November 2008, 16:41

Faster speed in Asia Pacific is good. I struggle to get hits on my blog from the Southern Hemisphere. If anyone in Oz, Cape Town or S.America knows where all the traffic is down there, drop me a message.
=o>
Great TT type of small font, feels more like a tool than a magazin now...is good! Notes too!

Ruben Garcia 25. November 2008, 16:50

I've just downloaded and can't see any "big" difference, although the skins are great, I'm using the black one that goes perfectly with my K-810

Morghus 25. November 2008, 17:48

Desktop Opera + Opera Mini + Opera Mobile = ... everything I need :D

Oh, and just a thought: Make it easier to access the signed versions?

Lordmayo 25. November 2008, 19:27

It won't synchronize and ALL of my saved pages are GONE!! Great upgrade (yeah right)

53north 25. November 2008, 20:17

If you save another page to the same old folder, they will appear as if by magic, linking back to the old Obml files..
Synchronisation should work if you go to the OPERA page, I think.
