One Web video

One Web

One Web — first coined by the W3C, the one Web principle is what it implies: There should be one single Web that can be accessed by any device, not different content for different devices. Check out the "Open Standards, One Web, and Opera" article from 2007 - still a good read.

Anyway, our brand new video to complement the One Web vision is now available for your viewing pleasure. If you experience slowness, then pause it for a sec to let it finish loading or have a look on YouTube.

Enjoy.

Very nice video

But I think the environment was very "into-the-future" likeish, and very deserted. I was missing some normal-peoples-in-the-street environment combined with the future likeish thingy:o THAT would be EPIC!

But anyways. Thumbs up for the video

Edit2: And I just noticed a bug while editing the comment. At the "pre"-comment preview. The byline has a bug. The username shows up like /TriMN/info/ p:

bashvi 12. February 2009, 18:50

Hi you all.

I just wanted to say, that I love the W3C, it makes it easyer to programm Web-pages - wouldn't there be MS with theyr damed IE that isn't really compatible.

lsaplai 12. February 2009, 19:01

Ok for One Web but... How do I watch this video from Opera Mini on mobile phone (Blackberry in my case)?

WillYum 12. February 2009, 19:09

Yum here. Nice images, cool graphics, love the music.

Speaking as a lowly American, though, not so hot. It was contrived and unconvincing. I'd ask the creator of such a commercial, "Who's your audience?" because looking at that commercial... my guess on the audience "Opera's investment partners' corporate executives" -- It says to me, "look at the cool ad we came up with to showcase our vision."

But it doesn't sell me on the vision. Tech geeks know that is too far away (at least, in America) and that Opera is only a medium part of this vision. Non-tech-geeks might see it and go "OMG! I want that now," and be sorely disappointed when they find out that vision is like 4 years (at best) away.

Still, I hope O goes further with this. Oh and do yourself a favor, hire real actors or at least a Director who can elicit genuine responses. The breakfast smiling seriously freaked me out... I was like, "this is acting or something seriously awesome is going on under the table".

Yum

Opera never provides EMBED options....
Make it easy for your users to viral market your videos. I can't believe users actually need to ask for this. It's so BASIC.

KYren 12. February 2009, 23:04

I am using a mobile phone,Charles.:D One web concept wouldn't come true untill all mobiles support features like Flash etc.

Good movie to show what the web has to offer. Web standards are great, but I think for several companies it's not in their best interest to follow the standards. Google might want to optimize the experience of google maps with a google phone, so people buy that stuff. Like apple and of course microsoft do already with many of their products, and will probably keep doing for a long time.

I think I've been in that bar when i visited Prague some time ago. Was a nice bar

ariesptn 13. February 2009, 15:19

I like the One Web idea.
However I still can't let some of my web page looks same in any browser and any operating system.

YtseJam, here you are. It auto plays. If you don't want it to, remove the &autostart=true from the code.

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.opera.com/media/video/player.swf" width="500" height="300">
