Summary of Jon's answers
Wednesday, 29. April 2009, 09:20:02
Yesterday was Opera Desktop's 15th birthday and in that occasion we arranged a Web talk with Jon S. von Tetzchner. You had asked questions and voted on your favorites for more than a week, and yesterday at 1:00 p.m. we sat down with Jon and had him answer everything you wanted to know about Opera. Jon's a man of few, but powerful words, so we had to really push him into answering as detailed as possible. ![]()
We hope you will like his answers, and the idea of more Opera talks? Please let us know as a comment below! Any ideas/suggestions how to improve the format is also most welcome. Enjoy! ![]()

-the logo has to be either changed/tweaked, from what I remember it's a very low res, on Vista it looks like crap if you have bigger icons
-at userjs, not really my area, won't comment
- in Opera 10, which was really more of a, let's call it "problem"
Dont' get me wrong, I use Opera in a day-to-day basis, "converted" other 10 close friends to be Opera users (constant users), and made my boss use it too
Even wanted to make video tutorials for romanians to see why to use Opera, but things really piled up in these last months, the 12th grade, some contests, work, theatre, and also fun, it's not all that dark ;-)

Perhaps you didn't, but I knew all of this already.
- User JS distribution and management improvements have been talked about for years, ever since userjs.org ground to a halt.
- Opera Community got a new icon, so of course they are looking at overhauling it for the browser.
- You don't see many major version number releases of Opera that don't get a new skin. The OC announced that they got a new graphic designer on board just for that purpose several weeks ago already.
I've been a loyal Opera user since 2002, so please don't just assume I'm some random critic for whom "nothing is good enough".

Like GreyWyvern said, I also don't give random hate critic. You are the new guy here, you should get more informed.
Yes, the questions were't great, but you wouldn't of putted them better yourself, don't worry about that.

about the new designer, Bluetoth is right they hired Jon Hicks to revamp the skin and the icon, he's the one who made the Firefox icon too, so don't be such a ........ ! I don't know, just check and keep up with the community before dissing others!
Bluetoth # 5. May 2009, 08:15
First of all look at our blogs ... different creation times, different people, places, hobbys, etc.
Let's just leave WayOfTheBastard in his own world with his "trolls"
Jeez

^^ Oh, really I forgot to add the link in my last post, that's Jon's first post in the Opera Desktop Team blog asking about UI feedback! and there was an article on Jon's personal journal at Hicks Design website that states he was hired by Opera, so please stop being un-observant!
God I mean did you ever try to make sure we're lying or claiming before dissing like that ??? you could have googled it so easily and you'd have found that I'm right.
The announcement in the Desktop Team Blog: http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2008/10/09/focus-on-desktop
The announcement on Hicks Design Journal: http://hicksdesign.co.uk/journal/and-now-opera
^^ BTW, just googling "hicks design opera" or "jon hicks opera" gets you the hicks design announcement page as the first result so if you're bewildered with joined sentences you could have just picked the name I throw and joined it with the word "opera" which hardly is a full sentence.

I don't know why this started at first place but anyway this conversation is closed now at least by me, I explained my POV and provided references, that's all.
