Since the launch of Opera 10 beta yesterday we asked Jon Hicks to send a few words about the new skin as many of you are curious if it's a work in progress, what direction is it taking and so forth. So, without further ado, here's Mr. Jon Hicks discussing the new skin:

I'm glad that a new skin had to be made, it's a major improvement and even makes Opera "feel" easier to use!

Looks great to me! I can find some room for improvement, but I'll hold off and see what changes are still being worked out. I just hope that by then Opera will still be open to or listening to skinning improvement suggestions.

As a user with dimming vision, I find this skin is much easier to use. It goes well with Windows 7 basic theme.

I like entracte2aqua better, the icons especially and the theme is darker grey which is really well polished. The only thing I like about this new theme is the panels, the blue would match the entracte blue bar and tabs nicely.

New skin looks great, cheers.

However, my one major feature request:

Please please make it so that the thumbnail previews can be shown when the tab bar is on the left side of the screen, not at the top. The thumbnails kill way too much screen estate on a widescreen, having that bar on the left including graphical thumbnails would be perfect
