Yahoo! 360° blog import tool

Import to My Opera

Last week we released the first beta version of the Yahoo! 360° blog import tool, that allows you to automatically transfer your Yahoo! 360° blog and comments to My Opera.

So far we've imported 1000 blogs and have more than 100 requests in queue, waiting to be processed. The amount of weekly blog posts has increased by 20%. Some new bloggers from Yahoo! 360° have already customized their blog with colourful and creative skins.

However, some of you may have problems with the import tool. Here's a list of known issues:

  • The import tool does not work if you have special characters or spaces in your Yahoo! password. If you've received a mail from us telling you "Unfortunately ,we were unable to access your Yahoo! 360° blog" then change your Yahoo! password and retry.
  • Your pictures may not show in entries for some reasons related to the privacy mode in Yahoo. We highly recommend you to go to http://download.360.yahoo.com/ and click on "Prepare my download". You will get a .zip file containing all your pictures.

Thanks for understanding and as usual, we appreciate feedback!

Class10a1 5. June 2009, 13:48

Sweeeeeeeeeet.
Great job!!!
But I just don't think many Yahoo!360 users are willing to give up their Yahoo!360 blogs. I've heard they're switching to another Yahoo! blog service called Yahoo!360 Plus or something...

cmengenie 5. June 2009, 13:52

Great, that's what I need right now

daotrongkhang 5. June 2009, 14:21

Thank you for the tool. It has done perfectly for me (about 500 entries). But the date of the original entry has been changed to the importing date. If Opera can fix it, so other bloggers can benefit.

I had imported 360 to Plus and now use that as archive. Plus keeps the original date of entries.

Chas4 5. June 2009, 14:28

cstrep 5. June 2009, 14:29

@daotrongkhang: yes, that was a bug in the early version of the import tool... It was fixed last weekend if I remember correctly. I guess you were one of the first users to try it.

Lechylon 5. June 2009, 14:31

Cool. 360 users have something to fall on after the closing.

ntvim88 5. June 2009, 14:37

yet another great work ....

cofoppyplop 5. June 2009, 15:29

I've had a blog there for a couple of years. They are going to try Yahoo profiles and I'll try it for a while but also downloaded all my blog contents to keep my options open just in case. Is it possible to merge that blog into my existing one here automatically with the blog import tool or just do it manually myself?

TachanRua 5. June 2009, 16:14

i don't see the tool, and how to import?

Jamjumetley 5. June 2009, 16:14

I just hope you guys aren't going to close my.opera

VintageFemme 5. June 2009, 16:40

I recently just moved here from Yahoo! 360 and love it. I do have one issue with blog tags on mine though in that they're not showing up despite my settings and forum messages. I'm trying to find the correct place to get someone to fix that. Someone suggested that friend only blogs [private] wouldn't show blog tags but I am doubtful. What would be the point then. I am certain it is a bug in myopera.com ... can someone PLEASE check this out? Thanks so much!

ellinidata 5. June 2009, 17:15

Man, Yahoo company is slowly givin up their relevant features like briefcase, yahoo photo, geocities and now Yahoo 360. I'm afraid this company will sink like a titanic. So Opera team let your subscriber use the opera email feature through wap browsing.

noronha1 6. June 2009, 03:41

Ok

magician259 6. June 2009, 04:42

my blog's import is on process. But I wonder whether all the entry from Yahoo 360 will have the exact date I had posted or the date I import them?

siumeo 6. June 2009, 04:56

That's cool. I've been with 360 beta for a long long time. Now I'll move it all to Opera. :D

khangtrang 6. June 2009, 05:23

I'm so confused... Is the Yahoo! 360°Plus everyone is talking about the "New Profile"? The only Yahoo! 360°Plus I can find is the Yahoo! 360°Plus Vietnam.

So, profile is new yahoo social network and 360 plus is use only for VN market.
But, i has lost my believe in Yahoo, though i link its mail and chat :D

I don't know to transfer my blog 360 into opera. Could you tell me how to move to opera?

princessofdeath 6. June 2009, 07:41

I've already met a few new members who are moved into MyOpera from Yahoo360.

my blog import was done!
This one is great! :x

khangtrang 6. June 2009, 12:33

thanks, ntvim88!

ok.. so, the move has been done. the original dates are intact and pictures with html codes are fine; however, the pictures from the "blog title" didn't transfer. Does anyone else have this problem?

thecosmo 6. June 2009, 14:10

I have 2439 blogs in Yahoo 360*. 360* has been stumbling for 18 months or more and I've tried many sites to get what I felt I had at 360*, to know avail. I discovered Opera browser yesterday, although I'd used it a few years ago for a trial run. Subsequently, I discovered My Opera and I'm quite thrilled by the appearance. I sure hope that my blogs import properly although I'm not optimistic that all will import. One thing I really miss here is the use of ROBOFORM.

I'd just like to add that My Opera is visually stunning and I am highly pleased with it. I hope that in the future additional features will be added. I still haven't check much to see about music players or embedded chat so I will check whether I can do that before commenting further..Kudos My Opera developers on what you've done here and I hope to be here a very long time..Now if I can only get my 360* friends here..Wish there was an easier way to invite them. We don't always have email addresses.

cstrep 6. June 2009, 14:29

@thecosmo: thanks for your feedback. I have many questions for you... :-)

  • What is the ROBOFORM?
  • You can probably invite your Y360 friends by writing a final blog post on Y360 itself, or use the contacts functionality there... Let them know about the import tool, and this blog post. :-)
  • For any suggestions you (or everyone else) might have for the My Opera team, please visit the feedback forum and post your ideas there.
The developers team reads it every now and then.

thecosmo 6. June 2009, 14:46

roboform remembers passwords and sign in IDs..it is available to users of IE and Mozilla and I paid $30 for it but it's worth it because it saves in excess of 100 sign-ins for me..

I will do as you suggested to invite people..right now I'm having trouble with invitations here..it seems Opera confuses my two IDs here so I wish I could delete the old ID but I know that I cannot..

cstrep 6. June 2009, 15:00

@thecosmo: do you know that the Opera browser has a Wand feature?

thecosmo 6. June 2009, 15:12

yes I see that and I am using it..NICE..I wish I could edit the name so using the same ID/Password for multiple sites is distinguishable in WAND..I've only spent acouple of hrs. here but I am loving this site and plan on inviting a lot of friend..wishing I could import addresses from yahoo..

hopefully my blogs will arrive and I will feel more "complete" here..I am a very active blogger and this site rocks compared to others that I've tried, and I have tried most of them including Ning, Multiply,Blogspot,Wordpress,Vivati, etc etc some I can't even remember name..oh Orkut is another..the list goes on and on..

cstrep 6. June 2009, 15:26

@thecosmo: ok, good. As I said, feel free to suggest improvements for My Opera, especially when you have tried many other services. My Opera needs users suggestions! And, regarding contacts import, there will be news soon.
