Auto save of blog posts

Auto save of blog posts

Ever experienced the following scenario: You've been working on the best blog post ever. You've spent countless hours in front of the computer. X amount of coffee have been consumed. You're just about to hit save before your computer freeze and you've just lost everything! Homer: Doh!

Well, we've had our share of failure too, so here's finally our solution to it all: Auto save of blog posts. :hat: It works in magic ways (well, not really), but it saves a draft of your post at timed intervals or you can "Save draft" to force a manual save. The posts are private for as long as you're working on it. When you're done, just do what you normally do and publish it.

We know one member who will be excited about this feature. He has been nagging about it for years, so this is a win-win situation for us. He even visited our office one time to see if any progress were made. Some members are more dedicated than others... :left:

Anyway, feedback is welcome if you have any comments how to improve the auto save feature! Thanks.

Stop writing blog posts. P:

Tamil 14. August 2009, 09:45

An icon indicating whether the post is public, private or friends only in archive and edit/delete posts page will be nice.

mysuperjulius 14. August 2009, 09:47

I will, thanks. More love 4 Opera. God bless u all guys.

Sounds good. And as I'm using OM 4.2 it would please me if I wouldn't have to log in here always in 4 steps: (1) change site language to English, (2) save this, (3) change mobile view to full view, (4) log in. My Opera site sw NEVER recognizes its own OM 4.2. So it goes...

Filmfox 14. August 2009, 10:15

Wow thats really gr8.This is saved my post just now thanks

leponyo 14. August 2009, 10:22

annoushkiss 14. August 2009, 11:25

Very nice new feature! Discovered it yesterday, and at first didn't understand what does it mean..? Instead of one entry I got two, one of which with private access :eyes: Now I see  Thank you! The advantages are obvious

MYLANKA 14. August 2009, 11:34

 all great but

Somthing wrong awww

Quinnuendo 14. August 2009, 11:47

seems like a good idea.

I used something similar, just in case, when writing longer posts, published my posts as private, then edited them further till they are done, and then putting them up as public  Don't have to do that no more

tandder 14. August 2009, 11:55

Thanks guys! chuck norris

Jurgi 14. August 2009, 12:15

You're just about to hit save before your computer freeze and you've just lost everything!

Nope, it never happened to my current compy, but to the Opera: yes. 9.x can crash, when typing too fast…

claudeb 14. August 2009, 12:31

Can't remember losing a My Opera blog post due to a crash/freeze, but I've been waiting for a draft feature for a long time. It's useful in many more ways. Good work!

Junku 14. August 2009, 12:59

But remember, you only get a maximum 1.44MB of autosave capacity! Anyway, I never really had a problem with losing posts anywhere really, thanks to Opera's awesome "Back" capabilities.

Also, kudos for blatantly calling out the guy who kept on bugging you about it.

johny07 14. August 2009, 13:01

thank you for all of your comments!!>...">

Nikio 14. August 2009, 13:04

Big thumbs UP for this one!!!

zenya 14. August 2009, 13:28

great improvements however,
Opera team are always doing great things

dantesoft 14. August 2009, 13:32

It doesn't seem to work if you don't set a title for the post, first. Which is pretty much the normal way to blog: write a thoughtful post and then find the best title for it. Right?

I suggest you set "No title" as the default when auto-saving.

PS: @Junku :D

operainchicago 14. August 2009, 13:34

:sherlock: So all it takes is a visit to the "O" (Oslo) and the Big "O" (Opera Hq) ? :sherlock:
