Opera Unite application of the Week
Monday, 9. November 2009, 12:26:33
This week's Opera Unite application of the week, Web Proxy, provides remote access to a local Web Server which allows execution of PHP/Perl/Python/etc scripts. This application is useful for developers who want to run and demonstrate Web projects they've been working on! ![]()
We had a chat with the developer and winner, javer from Ukraine, who could tell us a bit more about the future of his application:
"For future versions, I plan to make the application fully configurable through a Web interface - allowing to hide local domains names from external users and configuration of multiple domains on the same application. All in all, I have a lot of cool stuff coming.
"
We are looking forward to future updates and more cool applications from javer.
Applications of our dreams
There are many applications we would love to see created! Here are a few ideas for future Opera Unite applications:
-
Pong! The classic old school game.
- A chess simulator.
-
Hangman! Come up with a word and send a link to your friends to see if they can crack it!
-
Poker. Host your own game of Texas Hold 'Em.
Develop Opera Unite applications and get rewarded for it!
Every Monday we will announce a new application of the week. The developer is rewarded a gift card equal the value of a Nintendo Wii. All you have to do is create an Opera Unite application and submit it by 10 AM CET any Friday to enter the challenge.
Are you ready for the challenge? Check out the developer resources and get all the details in our "Battle for the best Opera Unite applications" article.

I do like the proxy, but I would almost have thought that pioneer work like the first attempts at media streaming or incoming file support would have been rewarded.
And I am still having trouble getting admin pages when not connected to the internet. It would be perfectly transparent if "admin." at the front (which does not work with localhost or the IP address) became "_admin" at the end (which ought to work with anything) But I suppose this is all off topic.

Here are some more ideas you can post in the future.
• Bittorrent
• Video Chat (Flash will probably need to be used)
• Drawing Board (You and someone else would share the same canvas and draw together in real-time)

It maybe awhile on ogg for html 5, they have to agree on what to use for the audio and video elements in html 5
Any program including bit torrents have to use what bandwidth a user has (maybe an idea is to have an app that tells you were all you bandwidth is) or maybe some kind of cheat sheet app for web and code writing help
