5 million members!
Monday, July 19, 2010 2:45:27 PM
Time for some awesome news! My Opera reached more than 5 million registered members last week. When we passed 4 million we figured out that we have enough members to man 3,3 Death Stars. This time we want your help, how would you illustrate 5 million members?
Add your answer as a comment in this post. The deadline for the competition is July 27. The best suggestion will win a framed signed t-shirt by the entire My Opera team!
To get you started, here are some facts about 5 000 000 people:
- More than the population of Norway, home of Opera!
- Enough to crew 11 682 USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) Starships from Star Trek.
- Attendants enough to overcrowd the next 66 Roskilde festivals!
- 25 252 times the amount of Tour de France riders.
Thank you everyone for supporting Opera and My Opera over the years.

So you can illustrate that MyOpera, according to the theory of relativity E=mc2, with more of 5 million members is a community with an anergy of about 450 million billion Joule of energy that is 5 millions of a MyOpera user.

Another nice thing could be the fact that all the people on my opera weight about 7.6 times the RMS Titanic ( wich is 46.328 tons according to the italian Wikipedia)
So it would be nice to have an illustration where the members of My Opera are compared with the Empire State building on a balance, or an image with 7.6 Titanics similar to the one you made with the 3.3 death stars!
Another idea for who likes the lord of the rings. According to the italian Wikipedia, during the battle of Pelennor (the battle for the city of Minas Tirith ), the total amount of the fighters of Mordor is about 45.000. Actually My opera users are 111,1 times their number

my illustration
if each member of Opera feeds a hungry person on earth,
we will have 5 million people experiencing goodness.
We all 5 million members experiencing "goodness" daily on Opera.
"Spread the goodness"
Use Opera, and stop the hunger on earth

If you ask me, an illustration would be that Opera has evolved from a mere browser to an online communicating platform. People like the features so members are increasing. Whats all this hype about the number illustration?
Oh and just following what Opera has asked:
5 million is dread zepplins 2nd full length album.
But still this is just a trick from opera.

The amount of people it'll take to lay 1 potato each, end to end to give Chrome and Firefox that much of a head start to catch up to Opera's speed.
