Help us get rid of the old Opera icon!

The Opera icon and logo was updated more than a year ago. Many sites have already updated the icon, but if you do a google image search, the old icon is scattered all over the intertubes. The task of getting all websites to update the icon seems hopeless, but maybe you can help out?

Help us out - win Opera swag!

To get started, simply identify a website using the old icon and ask them to update. The easiest way to get started is to do an image search on Google after "opera logo", "opera browser", "opera icon" and so forth.

By using the our new icon (or logo), websites will make their page look more attractive and it helps preventing new sites from discovering our old one. When you get someone to update, please let us know as a comment in this post. Those of you who help us out the most will be rewarded with an Opera goodie bag. yes

The new icon and logo can be found in the resources pages. Thanks for helping out making the Web a more beautiful place. cheers

I will do just that!
(I will assume you mean the old Opera software logo, too)

zoquete Friday, August 6, 2010 3:06:46 PM

Is is that important?

Charles SchlossChas4 Friday, August 6, 2010 3:07:04 PM

Sure knight

Unrealmirakulix Friday, August 6, 2010 3:07:43 PM

Search begins...

Pallab DeIndyan Friday, August 6, 2010 3:07:46 PM

Sure. I think I remember a couple of popular blogs still using the old logo.

mistressEVILmissevilat Friday, August 6, 2010 3:17:39 PM

I really don't want to discourage anyone, but asking them to update the logo has never had much effect (so far)... at least not on articles where I pointed out outdated logo.
My last attempt was at PCWorld, earlier this week.

I suggest goodie bag for anyone who gets them to actually update the logo.

Abhinavdecodedthought Friday, August 6, 2010 3:22:52 PM

up onto to it knight

zoquete Friday, August 6, 2010 3:25:22 PM

It would be great to put a link in the article to the new logos in different sizes.

NicoHellbillyDeluxe Friday, August 6, 2010 3:25:22 PM

I asked ComputerBase.de some time ago and they updated the logo because of my request. I was really impressed that I got an answer.

changed to white background image

zoquete Friday, August 6, 2010 3:39:57 PM

I would say "better" now.

zoquete Friday, August 6, 2010 3:41:24 PM

But I still think at small size the new logo does not look so great. And the difference to the old is not so visible either.

It's worth being persistent. ReadWriteWeb were really stubborn, but after commenting on their 10.60 article, they changed it without saying anything smile

Remains to be seen what they use for their next article though. I'd imagine a lot of sites google for the image every time they write an article...

Dacotah Friday, August 6, 2010 4:20:09 PM

What is the new logo? Can't you put it up here?
I get the white O if I don't use the Menu bar but still have the red O on tabs.
If I use the Menu bar I get the red O on the very top with still red O's on the tabs.

Strike that, I think the goodie bag should be given if at least two sites change it.

The trouble is, it's on a sticker on my laptop

Hm, While I was travelling in Vietnam I saw a bank using the Opera 'O' in their advert. If only I had been able to take a snapshot..alas I was on a moving bus.

that said, I'm keeping a lookout for websites with old logos now bigsmile goodies are always great, and the last set I received is still up and hanging at my university bigsmile

slackwrdave Friday, August 6, 2010 6:50:00 PM

A few years ago I asked my bank to stop blocking the Opera browser for account access. They fixed it with a week.

That's worth about 10 points, isn't it? lol

Isn't the W3c and every review site still using the old icon? Got to love how W3c doesn't even use standard css.

Suntana Friday, August 6, 2010 7:26:15 PM
