Download Opera 9.6

Good news, everyone! Today we launched Opera 9.6, which enhances the performance and flexibility of Opera's built-in e-mail client, while adding new features to Opera's free browser-synchronization service, Opera Link... Among other things. Also, Opera 9.6 is of course being shipped with features many of you already have come to know and love, such as Speed Dial (one-click access to your favorite site), session restore, mouse gestures, etc. :hat:

All these features and many others bring a fresh approach to browsing the Web with Opera 9.6.

Don't you like the feeling of a well structured blog? This week's spotlighted member has it, both in design and content.

This 22 year old student from Oslo generally blogs about his life, school, work, games, series whatever occupies his time. If you look away from the occiasonal robbery every now and then, we think his life is pretty good at the moment.

We're impressed with his slick blog design. What's even more impressive is that he made it over a weekend! That's pure talent.

Thanks for being a part of My Opera Amnith! Keep up the good work! :drunk:

Opera Tours France, China and UK

Opera Tours

Have you ever wanted to meet Opera in person or hear the latest news on the Web from people leading the industry? Well, if you’re in France, China or the UK in October then we might be coming to a town near you! Opera will host a series of community meet-ups and university seminars, starting in the first half of October.

The university seminars will explore Web standards, mobile browsing, and the history and future of the Web. For the full schedule for each country, check out the university tours page. At most universities there will be light snacks and/or a free gift for those who attend.

In each country we will also host several meet-ups with our users! These are a great opportunity to come and have drink with Opera Software, ask questions in an informal setting, and network with other people interested in or working with the Web. See below for the meet-up schedule for each country or visit Choose Opera.

Tune into the blog to keep updated on all the happenings during the tours. The university tours are part of the larger Opera Education outreach program for universities, schools, and other education institutions. Check it out at www.opera.com/education.

Meet an Operaholic from the US who's really passionate about Web standards and our 'Open the Web' project.

This member is on a mission. He wants to inform that Opera is more than just a browser by eagerly promoting our support for Web standards and with posts like 'Opera and Web standards' and 'IE and Web Standards, What are yours thoughts?' we're convinced that he's just as passionate about one Web as we are.

Besides regular posts about Opera, he's also an avid reader and commentator on many of our great blogs.

Thanks for supporting Opera Chas4! Congrats on being this week's member of the week!

Male trumpet swan photo by lvee

We know we there are many talented photographers on My Opera and this user is a living proof of that.

Many of you most likely are aware of The National Geographic Society (NGS). It is one of the largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions in the world. Its interests include geography, archaeology and natural science, the promotion of environmental and historical conservation, and the study of world culture and history (source: Wikipedia).

On their Web site they have a section called 'The Daily Dozen', which is photo editor Susan Welchman's daily selections. From the Daily Dozen, a selection of photos will be published monthly in National Geographic. Community member lvee submitted a photo of a male trumpeter swan and is listed as one of the best photos for September, but she needs your help to win the contest!

How to help her win:

  1. Go to National Geographic's voting machine → and choose 'Week 3'.
  2. Rate the photos until you come across lvee's male trumpeter swan (image 6) and rate it*!
  3. Done!

Best of luck to lvee. We hope your image get the highest average rating and is printed in a future magazine. You deserve it!

* We think a 10 is a pretty good rate!
