My Opera Awards finalists

Nomination ended on Friday last week and here are (finally!) the finalists.

Listed below are the finalists in each category. We recommend you browse through and pick your favorites before submitting your final vote — use this vote form.

Note: Voting is limited to one finalist in each category. Voting will end Thursday December 11.

Vote now for this years My Opera Awards!

We wish everyone the best of luck and we'll be back with the results Friday December 12. We've also made some cool "vote for me" buttons to be used (only) for shameless self promotion — grab one today!

i don't think it's fair to count the number of nominations either. i didn't nominate any one already nominated because no one said, this would be a prevoting :frown:

Yes. This is something that'll be taken into consideration for next year's My Opera Awards.

It would have been more fairplay too tell your rules before the nominations and voteings. Most competitions have that kind of rule to participat you will have to know the rules of the game. To tell the rules afterwards I call discqualification.

If you are in the game how can you also be the judge ?

Well, it actually also boils down to how the community wants to define the rating "best". Shall "best blog" be the same as "most popular blog"? Is there a direct correlation between those two? Very philosophical but important questions that everyone giving their votes should answer for themselves!

I also think it's not fair play to make rules when the game has been started :confused: you should think about that earlier, guys and there would be no reason to make balance

that's certainly right but also another "problem", which you'll be faced with by every single voting... the difficulties here are more basic i think, less philosophic :wink:

Some sort of warning message should be displayed if the same person tries to vote more than one time.

Better yet, multiple voting should be suppressed! (That shouldn't be hard to do once you already know that a vote redundant - which you need to in order to show warning messages)

This is rubbish! It always was just some funstuff - and since the fun is now away, I will not participate in this.

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but in my humble opinion, changing the voting process after several hundred users have already voted is not a fair way of voting...

I think now it is Important to take the criticism seriously If there is goingn to be a nice Opera community that I from start found out to be nice. Show it to us and correct your misstakes. Stop throwing words around it is sertanly no point. Make the rules clear, the different categories clearr. Then go play the game.

Hi all,

The polls which were put live yesterday was printing wrong results. The results were not accurate, unfortunately. We've tried to make a new list with a selection of finalists we feel represent something new, fun, fresh for everyone to check out on My Opera.
If anyone has any objections, please feel free to send a private message.

Anybody should be able to understand that changing the list of finalists in mid-water after days of voting is absolutely out of order.

Technical difficulties is an entirely different matter - and understandable.

Can I win by default for having more nominations than Jose and not mentioning it over and over? :wink:.

Seriously guys, chill. It's just a little bit of fun, not the only gratification we'll get on the web. The main reward you'll get from using this community is the community itself. Sure, I'd love to win the Blog Design category, but it's not the end of the world if I don't.

Right. We're sticking to the original polls. They're working again. A lot of startup problems recently, but everything should be back on track. :D
