Opera 10 beta 1 video:

  • Visual tabs
  • Speed Dial configuration

Welcome to Opera 10 beta, everybody! Experience a surprising array of new features, a fresh look and feel, and enhanced speed and performance. Since the alpha release we've now turned our attention to features.

Finally, Opera Turbo in a beta!

Sick and tired of a Web site loading slowly? So are we! Opera Turbo is a compression technology that provides significant improvements in browsing speeds over limited-bandwidth connections like a crowded Wi-Fi in a cafe or browsing through your mobile phone. It's awesome!

Visual tabs and sweet design!

We've always been the pioneer for how to deal with tabs. In Opera 10, we introduce a resizable tab bar. Drag the handle underneath the tabs to reveal thumbnails of your open Web pages. And, because great features should come in beautiful packages: World famous designer Jon Hicks created a new look :sherlock:.

Awesome! One thing you can say about Opera for sure - innovation is your middle name

I like the way you constantly hit us all with something new and great unexpectedly.

Izabela 3. June 2009, 16:16

Opera 10 beta is light and has much better interface :D

leighman 3. June 2009, 16:53

Love it.
My comments would be that the speed dial with picture applied takes noticeably longer to appear. This is to be expected but would be good if anything can be done.
And I agree that having tab-preview at one of the sides would be awesome! I don't see myself ever using it at the top.

Paulo Henrique 3. June 2009, 17:00

Continues to suck the RAM!

:headbang:

lexj 3. June 2009, 17:19

Wow, what a difference in speed, page loads are smoking fast. It also seems that the disappearing personal bar icons bug has been fixed. This borders on miraculous, since this bug has spanned multiple versions. Great job!

Ubuntunerd ☠ 3. June 2009, 17:53

:ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: hi bye

Todd Patrick 3. June 2009, 18:12

ESPN video finally plays correctly and hits a perfect 100 on the Acid 3 test.

Everything looks good when using Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access.

lexj 3. June 2009, 18:12

Oops, I was wrong, the disappearing personal bar icons bug IS NOT FIXED! It seems that it just took a while to rear its ugly head! Please fix this, it is a serious flaw!

slick77 3. June 2009, 18:18

What a hog. It uses more ram than the alpha.I have the same webpages open on Firefox and I find that Opera is using more memory.Images look washed out when I used turbo. My tweaked
FF is still faster.Switching back to alpha.

LarryJW 3. June 2009, 18:26

I'm using beta 1435 in Windows 7 build 7100. Everything is fast and great with the exception of flash videos. The audio will stop while the video is going then it will stop and the audio will catch up, then it goes normally and then starts the process again. My video RAM is 64 MB (Intel video) so maybe that's it.

Vítor 3. June 2009, 18:34

Opera, the best software in the World!

Is great!!!

pawelkono 3. June 2009, 19:41

Congratulations Opera! Love it! So far so good... and the new default skin on Mac is MUCH better.

iwood 3. June 2009, 20:03

I might be one who in other fora would be conceived as a "fanboi", however I must say this is utterly splendid. I like the speedy speed-dial change, yet, however I find it limited. I find 3x5 much more fitting for a wide-screen, thus being able to see whatever really is on the page previewed (excuse my 1280x800). More than 15 positions of favoured pages to remember positions of is beyond my mind to be honest.
The spell-check is a thought of brilliance and was not-to-be-rude, about time. All I wonder is when this comes in English (also known as UK-English -a specification not needed) and not US-English. Some Norwegians with me might want to include Norwegian nb/nn as well, and a quick-swich button:D

I belive a thank-you also might be in order.

Theriault Arekkusu 3. June 2009, 20:16

I can't wait the final release!

Carol 3. June 2009, 20:30

Brilliant! Chicago Style Pizza for Opera Team

Sandro Cristiano 3. June 2009, 20:32

Wooohooo!!! Super duper work dudes!!! :headbang:

Khadra Warsame Penh Neang 3. June 2009, 21:29

wow .... great work .... keeep it up ....

MD004 3. June 2009, 21:47

Suggestion: I would love it if the "Visual Tabs" would function on the left/right side of the screen as well. Most websites do not take advantage of widescreen displays, so having a vertical list of website thumbnails along the side of the screen would be a good use of screen real-estate.

aic0n 3. June 2009, 22:12

How does the detach function behave in Opera 10?

I really miss how it was in Opera 9.27(?)and i really hope that the behavior gets implemented again!

*jumping up and down and waving hands to get the developers attention*

mocilo74 3. June 2009, 22:39

Well, I have to say I love Version 10. I´m really impressed. I´m using Opera for more than 5 years now and everytime it´s a real pleasure using this browser.

Good Job!!!!

Samuel 3. June 2009, 22:55

I use 3 rows and 5 columns, that fit perfectly in my screen. How difficult is that I can choose the size in the Speed Dial configuration?

In previous versions, I added the
[Size]
manually. I like the background feature!!

d4rkn1ght 3. June 2009, 23:24

Blue Moon Du 4. June 2009, 00:14

I just tested...
Amazing for speed... lighter and faster!
Speed dial can config...
Thumb tab is so cool.
New skin is so nice!
Goodjob!

Crazy frog 4. June 2009, 00:47

man- have you ever heard a fastest web browser?
ufo-yes.
man- then what is it?
ufo- OpErA mInI

silviaeel 4. June 2009, 00:55

it's great the new tab, but i think it will be better in the right side of the windows or the left side , because in the top takes to much space. but i love opera

Joel 4. June 2009, 01:48

is just...beautiful...
Opera to next level!

Nugi Nugraha 4. June 2009, 02:00

Wow! it's a great web browser.

kunu manyantlers 4. June 2009, 03:32

seem's to be okay except one thing for me, logging on and going through the e-mail option for a new one everytime I try to re-log in again.:frown:

HS 4. June 2009, 04:08

i love opera browser.!

Ninja Rojo 4. June 2009, 04:13

looks better every time

Mouaz 4. June 2009, 06:15

i loooooooove it so much

David Peters 4. June 2009, 06:25

Is it applicable on mobile foods e.g. Nokia N95?

sonicflare 4. June 2009, 07:57

Love new version, and already found some issues
In new version the limit of Speed dial tabs is 25 (and in future it can more), but Opera Link can work only with 9
I have desktop and laptop with with Opera 10b, and they can share 9 tabs only.

Another one suggestion, is with tab bar. The thumb preview is cool, but it take a lot of your screen (1024), if it's possible to make it more Mac panel style? Ie. you move mouse over it, and it will make it more larger, if you move mouse out of tabs panel, the preview will be a lot smaller.

Aminu Jollyboy 4. June 2009, 08:47

What a step ahead!

AnuaR Sh 4. June 2009, 11:51

*THUMBS UP*

Joe 4. June 2009, 12:12

Hmmmm I'm impressed

Gonzalo Arin 4. June 2009, 12:40

It passes the acid test 3! Congratulations!

I cannot drag and drop a link to open a new tab. This is very useful; It should have this feature.

I will keep using it and testing it.

Ahmed Ashraf 4. June 2009, 13:26

I like it
