Nice move guys. up

JanMondsplitter Wednesday, February 15, 2006 8:02:07 AM

It's a shame that I stopped playing with these devices a long time ago. Maybe this was a mistake and I should start again.

velmu Wednesday, February 15, 2006 8:05:56 AM

When can I get Opera for my Rolex?

Webshit Wednesday, February 15, 2006 8:55:17 AM

Nice stuff. Don't going to buy a DS for it. I owne a PSP and I stick with that.

dnall4fun Wednesday, February 15, 2006 9:49:04 AM

不错

Matt Coxcoxy Wednesday, February 15, 2006 10:43:29 AM

Huzzah! I have a DS. However, from that mockup; why does it not look like Opera web browser, or Opera Mini??

Brian J.brianj Wednesday, February 15, 2006 10:55:37 AM

coxy - Just like the Nokia 770, Opera can make a browser to fit the needs of devices like these. The rendering engine is Opera, however the view displayed in the mock-up is one special for the DS. Small Screen Rendering will also be available (so it'll look more like Opera mobile).

Bryand3bruts1d Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:07:37 AM

Heh... I think this is the only good thing the Nintendo DS has going for it! p

Now, can we get a version for the PSP? bigsmile

Rafald.i.z. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:09:06 AM

WOW, I don't have DS but I think I am forced to buy one now.

I do have PSP though and using it's netfront browser can be a pain sometimes. Can Opera do something about it? wink

LastOneLeft Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:09:30 AM

I'm a huge fan of both Opera's desktop browser (especially considering the improvements made in O9) and the Nintendo DS. I'm glad to see you guys come together.

You can be sure I'll be getting this.

Hannustam1na Wednesday, February 15, 2006 1:17:01 PM

Nintendo DS sucks! Please make a web browser for Sony PSP.

fryguy Wednesday, February 15, 2006 1:42:38 PM

Sweet! I just bought a DS and Opera is my favorite browser, will buy it as soon as it's released

Alex Wreschnigiraneseth Wednesday, February 15, 2006 2:50:10 PM

Wow, sweet. I run a gaming site and I'm definitely putting this up as news!

I have to echo, though, please do something for the PSP! Us PSP users are stuck with Sony's craptacular piece of work. I'm sure they'd be happy to let you take that problem out of their hands. smile

Ben Johnsonskarmachild Wednesday, February 15, 2006 7:05:56 PM

This is a great achievement and I can only expect great things from this. Would people also stop discussing un-related subjects and bashing the Nintendo DS. Keep up the great work guys!
-All the best from www.ds-x2.com-

NintendoGuy Wednesday, February 15, 2006 8:02:22 PM

Java And Flash Suppot? cause i know i cant even get to a flash chat on the PSP. and i hope u can on the DS

tinhoy Wednesday, February 15, 2006 8:06:18 PM

Quick question on the PSP's browser...how is text input done? Opera for DS can use the stylus, which should be a big plus!

Sgt_HoboSergeantHobo Wednesday, February 15, 2006 10:17:20 PM

Very interesting. Couple of questions:

1) How much is this going to cost? This could potentially be the biggest turn-off.

2) How are updates going to be handled? God knows DS Opera users are going to eventually want 9.0.

Jerônimoje2design Wednesday, February 15, 2006 10:43:30 PM

Wonderfull!!!

Opera becomes free but are mading full agreements with the best companies (aka Nintendo, Nokia). This shows how free software can make money to survive - I call this wisdom and intelligence.

Opera is dead,
Long life to Opera!!!!

Jonorganicchunkysalsa Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:01:42 PM

Uh oh! Ok normally I don't fall victim to things like this but I may just have to purchase a DS Lite when it is released just because of this Nintendo/Opera partnership .

Brian J.brianj Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:04:08 PM

I'm with organicchunkysalsa. The timing of the DSLite and Opera being released is just too tempting to pass up for me.

FormerUtenteanonimo64 Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:17:06 PM

Great! I am just waiting for Opera for Toilet Seats. Meanwhile if you could just fix the bugs on the NON-FREE versions already available (particularly referring to the Symbian Series60)....

PhoenixP3Kphoenixp3k Wednesday, February 15, 2006 11:38:48 PM

Well I guess Opera is doing it's best to expand it's market and I believe it is a great opportunity to have public recognition. Bugs will be bugs, no matter what version you have. But it agree it's frustrating when you pay for something and it doesn't work.

Paterailike Thursday, February 16, 2006 2:37:14 AM

Come on Opera!!! Can't wait to get NDSL+Opera p

bobbybmc Thursday, February 16, 2006 5:47:45 AM

AlexanderAlexcool Thursday, February 16, 2006 10:47:03 PM

Wow! Great news! I would anyway get a Nintendo DS Lite but of course there is a plus with Opera as browser. ;D

ctlance Friday, February 17, 2006 2:02:01 PM

.edDotEd Friday, February 17, 2006 8:02:38 PM

it's because of this that i decided to check out opera yesterday... now i am a community member and sent this comment from my phone. i love Nintendo DS and now i love opera. thanks so much for the innovation. it's no wonder you two teamed up.

KryptoKnightAleksOD Friday, February 17, 2006 10:31:51 PM

INCREDIBLE!!! This is what I was longing for a long time now. The moment DS came out I knew that if Nintendo was going to bring the DS online and have a browser for it, the natural choice would be Opera, because of it's great record in mobile internet business. GOOD JOB, Nintendo and Opera.

P.S. I find it interesting that before this announcement, nintendo.com was not working well with Opera. Now it works as it should! Does anyone else find it amusing?

Kc4 the Greatklingoncowboy4 Friday, February 17, 2006 10:48:26 PM

sweet

Martin ZinaichMartinZZ Sunday, February 19, 2006 2:40:43 PM

Despero Thursday, February 23, 2006 3:44:21 PM

My 12 year old son is a big OP and DS fan. This news will be witing for him when he gets home today and I am sure he will be going crzy until it goes into effect!!!!!

Akito Yagami Saturday, March 4, 2006 4:47:42 AM

Alright I actually have a DS!

Hector RodriguezD0M1N8R Sunday, March 5, 2006 10:26:50 PM

Is it here yet? =)

Avinash_Tyagi Tuesday, March 7, 2006 12:36:59 AM

How anyone can think the PSP is better than the DS leaves me shockes, the DS has better games and better battery life and more durable and now a better browser. All the PSP can do well is play overpriced UMDs.

Hector RodriguezD0M1N8R Friday, March 10, 2006 10:48:03 AM

Im not very impressed with films on PSP.. Not even impressed with the video games.. They look great right up until you get motion and it all just blurs.
I just get annoyed spending any real time with a PSP and my niece who owns one gets motion sickness from it which is not a problem when she's playing on the DS.
PSP is just a great big screen for viewing stills.

Now why do you think the DS sucks? Have you even tried a DS?
Nintendo DS might possibly be the most flexible handheld console ever. The DS is the handheld to choose for the most interesting and fun game concepts. Didn't you have fun in the days of the NES or <insert classic gaming console here>. It's not all about the power. It's about the gaming.
I hope PSP gets stuck with that crappy browser. I'm not saying PSP sucks but in my opinion Nintendo DS rules.

Probably via WIFI. Or maybe via upgrade cartridges.

Nope. We western people have to wait. The coolest stuff is allways released in Japan first.

I can't wait for the DS browser and I hope it will be released in europe soon. This wasn't the main reason why I chose the DS but a real good one. Thanks Opera.

ar1es Monday, March 13, 2006 12:00:36 AM

EXCELLENT!! The best web browser for the coolest gadget!!!!!!!

Hector RodriguezD0M1N8R Monday, March 20, 2006 1:10:36 AM

What about now? Is it here yet? =)

strongfinger Monday, March 27, 2006 9:18:50 AM

for the record, the nintendo DS has dual screens with the lower of the two being touch-sensitive. one of the two screen responds to touch, not dual touch screens as the intro descibes.
