Opera Software mourns the loss of Geir Ivarsøy who has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Geir co-founded Opera Software with Jon S. von Tetzchner in 1995.
In his memory, Jonny Axelsson, a colleague and friend of Geir has written a short article about their experiences working together.
We would also like to thank everyone for their support.

This made me realize how young this industry really is compared to, say the automotive industry. Most of the people behind the internet technologies are still alive and well. And are likely to be for decades to come.
But their legacy will live on - it is still common to hear quotes from Henry Ford, for example.

I really appreciate people who do things for people may that be internet technology or the basics of life.
It saddens me when that energy is taken away so quickly.
All I can say is Geir keep going in your new space and strength and love to his family.
Cheers
