I already put an opera link on my website :wink: - www.3dwars.de

Being FREE sure does help !!

It's nice to see all the downloads, though I wish there was a way we could tell how many people have switched to Opera.

Advanced_Guest 6. October 2005, 18:35

I think we will se this later, when there will be statistics about how many users uses opera, firefox, ie, etc

Like eedeuce said, it sure helps with it being free. Its a great program to use. My only complaints are that;

a) the interface when you first start up is quite daunting to joe public who doesn't have the knowledge or patience to change it. I know you can download other people's toolbar sets, but why not keep it simple from the offset; http://img52.imageshack.us/my.php?image=operascreen6ff.jpg

and;

b) opera doesn't like gettyimages.com... or the other way around.

Aside from that; its wonderful.

Fantastic News.

I only hope that Opera has in place methods of dealing with an increased user base in a positive fashion. It's easy to grow and lose touch with your core user base. Hopefully the Big Red O has thought it through.

coxy, that is not the default Opera look. Panels are hidden by default, and Opera only has one more button on the address bar than Firefox (but Firefox again has one more top level menu than Opera).

If Opera's default is daunting, then surely both Firefox and IE are equally daunting. IE has ten toolbar buttons or so next to the address field on my PC, and I haven't customized it.

I am delighted with Opera. I found Opera Browser free down load and a nice review on:

http://www.techspot.com/news [Excellent tech site!]

It was through the Opera Browser that learned about Opera blogs. Sure glad that I did.

I have lived with other blog providers. [These are my sites]

http://BendGovernment.blogspot.com [Simple & effective

http://BendGovt.blog.ca

http://Anchorpin.Redpin.com [ Word Press ]

Opera is my preferece above these other providers, hands down!

Access for visitors is a problem though. They find the sign-in a challenge.

I understand though. When you have a new ship, you want to take on passengers slowly at first. The sign in will help keep the more error prone among us at bay for a little while. It is best to get kinks ironed out first.

Like how the page jumps up a bit when you click on comments.

Also, I get frequent error reports of [connect error 10060], yet that is not a fault with Opera, I suspect.

More likely it is just accurate reports of short breaks in service of Shaw Cable here on Vancouver Island.

So, While I enjoy writing about fixing government performance and safeguards against scandal [bendgovt.blog.ca], It is also nice to have graphics on a Blogsite. Opera has a fun and easy way to do that well!

A Massive Thank-you to all at Opera, 73s TonyGuitar [TG]

haavard, for what its worth, that was my personal layout of Opera. The panels are usually off, but I put them on for the sake of the screenshot - and a simple hit of the F4 key determines that for me.

But, I was more referring to that Opera shows, by default (from memory), the tabbed browsing/page menu - even if you only have one page open. And I would've thought that the two search boxes in the bit that drops down from the address bar is a bit pointless - hence why my set-up has the browser identification menu.

I dont know. It all depends what you use the web for, I guess... but I know that from experience of converting other people to Opera, they've asked me to come and help them on first opening the program. I've had to explain what everthing is - and turn a few things off...

What's not to love about Opera 8.5? Its fast, feature filled and fun to use. The page look is refreshing and far easier on the eye. And I hope everyone has at least tried the voice commands - way too cool to miss.

The only changes I would like to see are the ability to import LDIF or CSV or even Vcard address files. There is no way that I'm going to type all that stuff in (cause I'm lazy).

Then what's not to love about the Opera Community? Blogs, use groups, just about everything I do except pod casts and ther are already too many of those.

Believe me am enjoying my opera 8.
