Kawii!

Kawii skin for Opera

Inspired by the Internet Channel on the Nintendo Wii, this desktop skin (for 9.6 and later only) tries to keep it simple, fresh and clean. This is a beta with issues that will be fixed. Please comment wishes, bugs and of course praise to Demonstro.

Note: "Panel toggle" needs to be active for the skin to look smooth. (Tools - Appearance - Panels - Panel toggle checbox).

Enjoy your (possibly) new favorite skin!

A great blog since the "First Age" from an Italian who gives you his take on everything Web technology (sometimes he thinks it sucks). For those of you who already follow his entries, most of you probably already know how to add shadow to text using CSS.

We enjoy Lorenzo's objective browser blog - keep posting because we will be reading. Congratulations on being this week's member of the week.

When the two co-founders of Opera, Jon S. von Tetzchner and Geir Iversøy, did the first few lines of code which would eventually culiminate in the Opera Web browser, they only had their network and community to support and help them spread the word:

My Opera has later evolved into a full-grown service of its own, where thousands of bloggers and photographers contribute with content and through that helps other discover Opera. We asked a few community members, both new and old what they think of My Opera.

My Opera is first online community site that I joined. I have learned a lot, helped many Opera users, blogged about Opera, and got lot of incredible friends of different ages from all over the world.

From community member Tamil.

I like My Opera for its clean Web environment: No ads, no problem with mobile access, non-obtrusive design, huge free space to use... But the most useful "feature" I like is that there are many smart and intelligent people, and almost no trolls.

From community member FataL.

If you are stuck with things you'd like to share, the right place to do so is certainly here. Post pictures, write blog posts or join a debate, and why not find new friends - it's never too late. The system is brilliant and oh so nice, it lets you do all this from any device.

From community member rose-marie.

Also check out mariyamur's celebration post.

Here's to another million and for many new great services and features for everyone to enjoy!

Want to hear what a Web designer from Netherlands thinks of society and life? Then this blog is for you. He is not only skilled with a mouse and keyboard, but also with the good 'ol paint brush! Just check out his painting of a Jaguar XJ-S. Good stuff!

His blog design is a treat for everyone who grew up playing with LEGO.

Congratulations jekav, you're this week's member of the week!

Custom searches

As some of you is getting more and more worked into Opera's awesome abilities, many discover new features you can't live without. One is the option to create a custom search and with a few keystrokes adapt it to your needs.

How to create a search

Go to Tools -> Preferences (Ctrl + F12), go to the Search tab:

Custom searches

Click "Add" to add a new search:

Add a new search in Opera

Write in the address of what you search for, and the search word should be expressed by %s. By using the example shown above, you will be able to simply type myo Jon in your address bar, and easily come to Jon's account here on My Opera.

There's a simpler way of adding searches without search word expressions. Say that you want to add a quick search to your own blog. Right click the box to search and click "Create Search...":

Create a search in Opera

In the popup write what keyword you want to use, click OK, and you are done.

Custom searches

Here are a few searches which might inspire you. The abbreviation and the line that does the magic, so you can easily copy-paste to get it working. These should be entered in the input boxes of the same name in the add custom search boxes above.
