How to use Opera Unite

Last night I went to a party. Since Opera Unite was running at home I could easily stream my music from it. Awesome.
I shared my photos with Unite without having to upload all of them to the Web. File sharing is probably the main Unite app for me.

ghostshell74 16. June 2009, 11:15

Congratulations!

the next step in consistent browser development!

easy to use, good design, a real thought-out thing....

keep at it!!!

note: the next step would be to fuse a top tool like "directory opus" with opera, for easy file management, sharing and browsing.

Death the Brain Eater 16. June 2009, 11:21

:hat: great news! Bravo!!!!

oskarz1 16. June 2009, 12:04

its an amazing feature, but the only thing that i don't like have to be that you have to use opera to open the servers. this can be a problem if you want a file from your server from school. they usually have IE, and no possibility to install opera.awww

The client side does not need Opera

dtubin 16. June 2009, 12:12

Excellent accomplishment of Opera team!

Pedro Alvarez 16. June 2009, 12:24

Hvem retter denne tjenesten seg mot ?

Paulo Henrique 16. June 2009, 12:26

Very interesting tool. This can bring to users new ways to interact with the Web and friends. I believe that something is already being also developed by Google, Google Wave. Well, you guys out in front. Now you expect to see other companies improve the idea and copy. Congratulations, Great idea and good work.

But once the Opera launching technology and concepts for the future.

Espen Arnesen 16. June 2009, 12:44

Finally a way to have access to my music files from my work computer without too much hassle

If I now was able to upload data to my own computer at home, I would se some potential among many users. At least among those that don't run their own ftp server

David 16. June 2009, 12:45

Loving it, using it... and now my collegues are hooked too.
Great idea!

Wouter 16. June 2009, 12:49

Great stuff. I have two major problems.

The fridge function should not be running on a local host. The problem is that when I shut down my computer and the notes are no longer available. Maybe you can make a wingadget for the input and save it on a Opera Cloud server and it ´ll be automatically synchronized to a second computer.

What happened when I log me in to a second computer with the same login?

Mike Hoffman 16. June 2009, 12:51

I'm disappointed. When trying to activate Unite within the browser and logging in - the service just hangs there.

No obvious support to be found...

Wouter 16. June 2009, 12:53

You need to create an account at unite.opera.com.

darbski 16. June 2009, 13:08

"Your friends do not need to run Opera Unite to chat; any standards-compliant Web browser will do."

It is not true.
lynx - does not work
links - does not work
elinks - does not work

Faisal Farhan 16. June 2009, 13:14

i just could say: OH MY GOTCH.

E-mail: opera@emigratefan.ru

Administrator password: OperaMax

Ide Stoutjesdijk 16. June 2009, 13:51

:D This is so cool

Beonix 16. June 2009, 13:53

although not being revolutional, this thing surely makes file sharing extremely easy

sure, there are lots of programs that can do it, but they take too much time to get installed and configured

with a web browser, however it takes you a couple of mouse clicks.

now the realy bad things about the new Opera Unite:
1. Pirating
2. Electricity Bill

conradical 16. June 2009, 14:03

Haven't tried any of the features yet. Still ogling the UI.

Clance 16. June 2009, 14:03

Tom 16. June 2009, 14:27

This is fantastic! I tried to access my photos from my Wii and it worked great!

This will make everything so much easier!

Too bad the server tool doesn't support php though... And the character coding seems messed up.

ifelipets 16. June 2009, 14:34

yeeliberto 16. June 2009, 14:41
