This is a slightly modified Opera V8.5-9.0 standard skin that makes the user interface more space-efficient (removes excess padding from toolbars / tabs etc.) and adds support for the Web Developer Toolbar (using icons from KDE HiCrystal).

The tabs have a small minimum width set as well as less padding to allow more tabs on the tab bar, and if you use just images you can place the tabs on the left without taking space.

Updates: V3.04 reduces the size of the close buttons on the tabs, synchs to the latest V9 skin (thus updated RSS icon) and reduces the web dev icon size.

Long, long ago in a ...
Very nice

the 7.50 opera skin is very nice (first time for a default skin) and your job is superb, as the only inconveniance of the default skin is the space it takes. very nice, as most of your skins!

StarGazer 14. May 2004, 17:13

This skin needs at least a little padding at the top as the buttons align directly adjacent to the top menubar. The 'eyeball' icon is terrible. I can not stand eyeball icons in any application. Other than those two things, it is a very nice modification of the standard skin.

non-troppo 14. May 2004, 21:45

StarGazer: I haven't wanted to change too much as it is not my skin - thus the eye stays as that is the way Opera designed it. It is quite easy to mak a customisation yourself (eyeless-opera skin perhaps?).

That the buttons are close to the menu is by design - I value every pixels of extra space available! That will not be to every ones taste. I find this skin STILL takes too much space and so stick to my Breeze skins and my modified Dark-Tofu...

It is breath-taking. so I prefer Opera standard.

Counter_Xtrike 17. May 2004, 19:57

i think,, sometimes default skin is best.
so "Compact Edition" is very cooool.

fafot 19. May 2004, 00:35

Excellent!!

The only remark that I have is that you can also take off the borders between the toolbars and make the menu toolbar smaller.
Otherwise it is excellent especially with the personal/Hot toolbar that enabling so many additional bookmarks.

Thanx, Non-Troppo...you've just got rid of the biggest irritation I have with Opera..and I LOVE that the buttons are right up against the menus...lean & clean! :-)

This is my favorite skin, not too big (like opera standard), and not too small. I'm using it with opera 8. It's buried under all the other newer skins, so hopefully a newer version will come out just so that people can see it, but it doesn't need improvement. Great job Non-Tropo!

jumptheshark 13. February 2006, 19:57

cool skin. should be the defualt for opera 9

Bill_P 24. February 2006, 15:39

Any chance of tightening the vertical spacing on the bookmark menu pulldowns?

Also, I personally prefer tabs to fill out the tab bar and then shrink as tabs added as in previous release.

Best skin so far and it should be the official default skin.

cavenaugh 4. March 2006, 21:29

This is the best skin available - nice & clean.

mieltawil 5. March 2006, 02:25

Nice skin, the previous version takes a little less vertical space though.

rschultz2002 9. March 2006, 19:38

Great Skin. Could you please add the new feed icon? http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/show.dml/146296

rschultz2002 5. April 2006, 02:20

Well I have waited for some time and not one response. This is just like posting on your Webdev Menu for v9+. Please just fix the feed icon. It does not need to be orange. In fact blue would be cool. http://www.feedicons.com/

operafan2006 19. April 2006, 23:22

The second best skin and can be one candidate for the default skin for opera 9. Still might be more compact like Opera Standard Zuper Slom skin which is best.

saahleh 20. June 2006, 23:30

The adressbar is too small in Opera 9 final.

The Underscore isn't visible anymore...

gorann 24. December 2006, 15:22

I like this improved (for my needs and taste) default skin very much.
But I have one objection: Tabs are of different wide (in relation to title tage of the page). In Standard standard skin they are of same wide (or length??). Can I change something in some file to fix this??

Tjis is gennerally not good solution, in my view.

newBuch 25. December 2006, 20:32

Very good skin!!

nawacrike 30. December 2006, 23:49

I just downloaded this skin and love it so far. I am very happy the bloated empty spaces of the standard Opera browser have been reduced! I now have more room for the things I really want/need on my screen and can better minimize the awkward spaces. Keep up the good work!

hiiza 22. January 2007, 03:19

thanks for this skin.
I'll make it. thank you.

billxy 8. April 2007, 12:40

这个皮肤好久没有更新了,希望能够更新一下!

skolman 12. April 2007, 10:18

Opera Standard Compact Edition V2.3 roxx
its smaller than v3.04

solardog 17. May 2007, 23:22

Love it!

drumblius 19. July 2007, 13:22

totally love it except fact that active tab isn't distinguished properly. sometimes it's hard to locate which tab are you using.

also would be nice to change the font color of tab loaded in background. now it's screaming blue and hard to read.

anyway, skin of my choise

kyleabaker 4. September 2007, 18:42

This has been my favorite Opera skin for a long time now, however, I've just installed this skin on the first Opera 9.5 Alpha preview and it doesn't look so hot to me. Seems like everything is not sized up right, especially around the address bar area. I would love to see it improved on for 9.5x!

gorann 7. September 2007, 22:42

Me too! I returned to 9.20 just because of this.
There are lots of bugs. Please fix it and let us know when you do (there is a topic on the forum http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=204113 so if you can please put the notice there, or some other answer, I would be very grateful

lunigma 18. October 2007, 23:56

I'm using 9.5 Alpha, but I didn't notice the problem with the address bar until I raised the icon Size. It's really not a problem if you've already lowered the Icon sizes, which saves space.

Nuihc88 28. December 2007, 22:35

This is by far my favourite skin. I'd really like other colour versions though.

Nostariel 12. February 2008, 08:36

It would be really nice if you could update this for 9.5 and also make the Personal Bar more compact. :wizard:
