I rarely like dark skins, but this one has quickly become one of my favorites. The clean, sleak look is very professional and smooth as silk.

Unlike so many others who have commented on this badass skin, I have always loved dark skins, and I'm disappointed that I can not find more of them. I have looked up and down most of the popular skins, and until this one have not found one that matches my personal tastes.. It matches my desktop perfectly: I'm running GNOME on Linux and I have a really cool (dark) theme going, high contrast inverted. I use Opera alot so it is really nice to have such a seamless feel between desktop and browser. Super kudos to Kazu Spara, I gotta check out your other work! And kudos to the editor who picked this one out!

It would be the perfect skin for me if it were not so dark. Red or dark grey over a nearly black background is difficult to read. Why not brighten it a bit?

To dark for my tastes but the theme is really well done. Can you do a lighter version of this same set up? Otherwise, this is one of best as far as attention to detail. It has a really finished look. A lighter color scheme would be 5 stars definitely.

Like many others, I'm not a big fan of dark skins, but have to admit, This is the 'Best Skin' I've seen yet for Opera! An Outstanding Job!!! I can tell a lot of time and effort went into the making of this skin and must say it is greatly appreciated. Would love to see the colors fit with the Windows XP Themes, Blue, Olive, & Silver, but I am greatly thank-full, if only to have this one version!

As so many others have said, this is the first dark skin I have liked. Now it is my default and I am sure it will be for some time. However, I think the icons could be better. Many are very similar and difficult to identify their function. This is a pity as the authors other skins have much better icons. Also as others have said it needs to be made smaller. Given four for the icons otherwise 5plus.

This is only one of two skins I use (the other being glass buttons) BUT (and it's a big but) it's almost impossible to download. What's going on there then? Since formatting (for 'formatting' read 'replacing') my HD drive I've not been able to download Meguiddo since. Sort it aaaht mush

I must have tried 20 times to get this skin via Opera. If you're having trouble, switch to IE6 or K-Meleon. They both downloaded it with no trouble, first try. No doubt Firefox would do just as good a job as well.

Generally I find if skin downloads time-out, you can get them by right-clicking on the download link and selecting 'save target as...'. Then just pop the zip (unopened) into your Opera>Profiles>skins folder.

I love this skin! Like other reviews I've read, I've found dark skins hard to get hold of (surprisingly) and I find the 'brighter' ones a bit too happy and shiny for my personality. This one was worth registering with My Opera just to say how much I like it. Cheers!

Could you darken the addressbar background colour from white? I have a dark KDE theme and it appears dark in the addressbars but there is a white border around it :-(

I'm always in a search for great dark skin for my programs, and these are one of the best so far.
It's hard to find these kind of skins nowadays, because no one emnraces his/her dark side

Trust me on this, better to accept who you are than deny it, and make more of these great skins

This looks like a very nice skin but when I attempt to download it the progressbar will move about half way across and start over again. Then, on the second attemps, it will go halfway again and give me a fatal error. Too bad, I would really like to try this skin. I am also on a dial up modem, as I still don't think DSL or Cable is reliable yet. Any suggestions?

Just added this skin to the 7.6 beta and the scroll bars go a garish yellow when you hover on them. See <a href="http://www.permuted.org.uk/forum/guidoyellow.jpg"> image</a> to see what I mean.

There's just got to be an update of the skin to deal with this!

Although I'm not a fan of dark colored skins, I donwloaded it and tried it out anyway. I read that others felt the same, but seemed to enjoy the dark skin. Unfortunately, I felt trapped, the skin is definitely to dark and I felt as though I was being trapped.

WAY TO DARK for my taste. I love the design, just not a fan of the dark skin. Grey / Silver / very light blue would be COOOOOL.

This is my all time favorite browser skin. Im not really a big " skin-man", and for the life of me I cant understand why the huge collections of variations on a few theme such as there are, but the colors of this one are easy on the eyes and make it relaxed staying focus on webpage content rather than the skins with the big ugly, fat, colored, cartoony buttons that make one feel as though they walked into the bigtop at some internet circus heh. Thanks for this break from that~!.

I really like the icons, but I honestly can't get over the majority of the space being black - if you could make a version of the skin that had a white/whiter background... But yes, again the icons make it almost worth it.

A minor (very minor) gripe.

I just downloaded the updated skin for the new Opera 8 and noticed that the header bar in mail was somewhat darker/flatter than before. Checking I found that the .png file had changed. I've switched back to the old one and woah! it's so much better.

OK... the file size is 27kb instead of 11 bytes but on this one element the difference is really noticeable.

I also used the old mime.css file. Will take a further look and see what other differences there are.

Still the best skin on the planet

This is the best skin for Opera - not that others are good, but this chills down the user and encompasses the important features (panels, browser and address) and the essence of Opera in a way that no other come close to. No fuss, no annoying colors, pictures or fancy buttons to get tired of, just pure, plain, systematic and above all - a perfect design!!

This skin is awesome. It's great to find someone who can actually make a DARK DARK skin for opera. This is the perfect skin, since I'm really into dark skins. To me, everything else is too bright for my tastes and this dark skin really contrasts with my silver desktop skin, which darkens the black and brightens the silver, which I really like. The buttons are polished and the gradient finish is amazing.

I've been using this skin almost since its release... it's the only one that has survived every Opera update and I can't imagine using anything else.

Will it be updated for Opera 9.0? Some things don't work properly, most notably the Network tab (the one allowing to change, among others, browser identification) in the site preferences window is missing (it seems to me it doesn't fit in the window space provided).

This is a very nicely done skin, but I would prefer if it had a better way of highlighting the currently used tab. The white writing in the tab is the only real difference I notice and on some LCD screens it is not to easy to see the difference. Still very cool, worth 4 stars. Fix that one problem and I would give it 5 stars.

I like your skin, but unfortunately most of the web pages have white or at least bright background and that doesn't look good. I know I can set the default background in Opera, but there's still images on websites with bright colors...

However the list of open tabs (when holding the right mouse button and turning the mouse wheel) is wrong because the highlighted item has a white background an white text and you can't read it.

This is the best theme I've ever used, I like mostly dark themes and this one top all others, though I have one request if it's possbile:
Could you please change the color when tabs (or buttons) highlight? The only thing I really love in Mirage Tango Fusion[1] theme is the greenish effect when a tab/button is highlighted...

I agree - vvv slick skin! One thing to really improve the look is to set the Active Title Bar to black in Windows Display Properties. Or is there a way to do this within the skin?

I really like this skin, but could you please make the icons a bit larger, as well as a larger space between the titles of file, edit, view... etc? I'm currently using a 120% size but the space/size between the words are still a bit too small for my liking.

The one and only skin for me, I've used it ever since I started using opera back in 2004. I have downloaded several others and looked at but dismissed them almost immediately, the lines and the colors have been too blary or drab. The favourite features (being a minimalistic user, only having status bar, address bar and tabs, no icons) are the very stylish and compact looking tabs and the smooth gradient of the skin in general. top grades for this one.

I have to be the most indecisive person ever, I tried so many skins to see which I was most impressed with... I kept coming back to this one.

This for sure is my favourate, I did put Icon size up to 140% but that's probably personnal taste.

I think ipred came up with a good pointer if only to spred out to others tastes, maybe cloning this in to silver or/and white and adding a backround...
That eye that comes up in the confirmation box, enlarged my look nice.

I think its a top notch skin any way

This is the most beauitful dark skins I've seen. I love it. I didn't care much for the icons, and the light text was invisible in the prefernce screen areas. The text this is probably due to my dark linux theme. I need a lighter text as default. Anyway I didn't want to edit my linux theme too much so I decided to edit this skin slightly. I started liking the changes I made. I'm not finished yet, but It's uploaded as "mint". I give you all the credit for the basic design. I hope you don't mind me using your skin as a base. Thanks!

Just updated to 9.50 and its still the best dark skin for opera. Cannot believe that your skins works with all my Opera versions! Great great!

Such a beautiful skin. It really is. I only use dark skins. But the icons on address bar(Back, Forward, Home, etc.) and the icons on the side bar could be just a tad bigger.

I know that I can choose the icon size in the Appearance window. But when I increase the icon size the tabs increase too. And I don't like that.

But, I'm sure I'll get used to the little icons. I'm going to have to, since this is such a beautiful theme.

One of the early skins that made me really love Opera. Still superb, and the best dark skin I've found. Efficient use of space, elegant, simple.

My only preference in the asthetic would be a change of tab shape itself, from the current 45 degree border angle to a 90. Even so, this is clean, beautiful stuff. Kudos!

Excellent work, tried lots of other skins but this one just suits what Opera is all about! Why isn't this skin in the Editor's Pick!!? Come on Mr. Editor, this should be in the Top 10!

This skin has been in the Editor's Pick once. It should never have left that place.

It is the only skin I have found that I like. To me, this skin IS Opera.

I only can agree with OttifantSir (and several others ;-P) - up to now in my opinion its the most compatible skin concering the figure/frame. I wonder why its so difficult to find this skin...:-(...So much Users are unwittingly unhappy with the outward apperance of their Opera and in fact they all are unwittingly looking for exactly this skin but because its so hidden they must be content with something boring or general...;-)
My only suggestion to the author: More variety and brightness in colors!

the most appealing part of this skin is the way the tabs are drawn. nice design, small size and easy to navigate. but icons are too small and hard to distinguish. the interface is too dark while white speed-dial background prevents it from being an eye-friendly skin.

hope to see an update with better icons and colors.

with the dark browsers you need to get the general contrast levels right to get the best fx. i prefer these browsers as they dont hinder the viewing area. if youve not tried one .. then give this a try. you may find the screen is easier on the eyes and the images stand out more too. very slick.
