Well, I don't see it even close to blue(ish)!?
It's plain grey!
Other than that - OK, 'though
I'm on 7.54, and think that to claim it's designed for 8.0
is a bit too... whatever.

TreeGo 23. December 2004, 19:54

Well, 8.00 is available in beta form already. See www.opera.com towards the bottom of the page to download it.

konic 24. December 2004, 04:26

And what about Blue stuff which is on the picture?
I installed 8beta1, - result's the same - plain grey !?

groova 24. December 2004, 12:52

Although the tabs for the windows somehow don't quite fit in with the rest, I still like it!

Oh, and btw, if you use the default color scheme 'Sea' or 'Blue' you get it in blue!

sullysnet 24. December 2004, 22:17

love this skin very uesful  thanks

jhobo4 2. January 2005, 23:49

Moose real nice! and do appreciate how you added the date.

capandjudy 3. January 2005, 18:42

Moose: Is it possible to download the custom colors without installing the Designer Setup 8.0????

Moose 3. January 2005, 19:05

Capandjudy: yes, I will make them available today, but I have no way of annoucing this, or other tweaks here. I have only 200 characters at my disposal, which is insane.

There is a changelog newsfeed available on my site:
www.literarymoose.info/=/opera/
Choose it from the sidebar

Please check later today, or tomorrow, and there will be a page with instructions announced in the newsfeed.

M.

p.s. The setup system is really unfriendly. How come do I have to rate my own skin if I reply? And what else is left for me to do than give it 5 stars? Come on, Øpera, you can do so much better...

Moose 3. January 2005, 19:43

Capandjudy: http://www.literarymoose.info/=/opera/tutorials/color-schemes.xhtml

Please ask in the "Customize Opera" forum if you need help.

capandjudy 4. January 2005, 00:06

Thanks Moose!! The instructions on your website for adding your custom colors to Opera 8 were right on although I had some trouble simply because I am not familiar with editing the .ini configuration settings and was poking around in the toolbar configuration rather than the menu configuration. I pasted the two text files from the web page as directed and now I have the six Moose colors under view>color scheme. Needless to say, I do subscribe to your rss feed. Thanks again. Norman Hunter

konic 4. January 2005, 15:31

Well, that what I did not understand in the first place.
I thought that colour comes with the skin, not as a separate item.
I used to change skins time to time, and that means
that I have to adjust Colour Scheme(s) as well !?
It should be part of the skin, and of course configurable.

Staretz 5. February 2005, 06:36

...Thus is the process of making Great Greater!

(Only two more steps to PERFECTION)

Great job, Moose!

robertbj 13. February 2005, 14:16

I would suggest the stop loading icon be in red rather than white though, and maybe reload in green.

kawaii_desu 4. March 2005, 19:54

I love this skin. I've been using it for a long time. One thing, I'd like to see is more contrast between active tab and all other tabs! Otherwise, it's great!

ukko 20. March 2005, 09:49

Great job, this is my default skin! Some of you haven't understood the cultivated color scheme friendlyness. This skin is supposed to be plain gray, that is why the different color schemes look so darn nice.

Thomas Chah 22. March 2005, 09:27

When clicking on a list of the most left on personal bar, all lists works on left clicking. Why don't you fix it?

Moose 23. March 2005, 01:26

Fixed.

andyas 1. April 2005, 12:05

This skin is slowing down my Opera on Linux. On WinXP it works fine :/

capandjudy 24. June 2005, 12:55

Moose, could you please post once again how to change the configuation to get your custom colors. I lost mine when wiping out my old profile. Thanks-- Norman Hunter

Moose 24. June 2005, 12:59

Capandjudy:

1. I posted the tut on the wiki: http://nontroppo.org/wiki/CustomColorSchemes
2. Downloadable Designer menu (with moosely colors): http://www.literarymoose.info/opera/menu/
3. Custom colors info for the dialog is also available (though not as a tut) here: http://www.literarymoose.info/opera/dialog/#appearance
4. Skin optimization info: http://www.literarymoose.info/opera/skin/

enjoy,

M.

rasquire 6. July 2005, 00:48

I really like the skin... kind of an Aqua-ish/Breeze-ish style. (And are those Macromedia and Macintosh icons I see among the original ones?) My only problem with the skin is that it slows down the browser (using Win98 SE and Opera 8.01 on a PIII @ 800MHz). When I change to another skin, the browser becomes "snappy" again -- dialog boxes pop right up, etc. But, if I switch back to the "Designer" skin, Opera begins to slow down again. Anyone know why this might be happening?

composerRenamed 30. August 2005, 21:17

I'm using this now...

Moose 6. November 2005, 07:15

Mæstro Composer: thank you for endorsement and support - I am honored!

Moose 6. November 2005, 07:15

Andyas - unix issues should be gone now.

csant 6. November 2005, 08:02

This is becoming one of my (if really not *the*) favourite skin(s) - the last tweaks improved it a lot! After a little tweaking (I need fixed width of tabs) it is now my main skin.

rmccabe916 7. November 2005, 00:42

Argh! Emil or Designer...Emil or Designer... :irked:
Guess I'll switch between them every other day

CaLy 14. November 2005, 17:02

Moose i dont know what´s wrong because i wanted to go to http://www.literarymoose.info/opera/skin but it tolds me its unavailable.
Anyway i downloaded it and i like it
Good job

YtseJam 12. December 2005, 14:38

CaLy, Moose's website is offline.

schumpert 18. February 2006, 22:10

Is it possible to customize a menu setup and if so, how do you do it?

thanks,
scott

Moose 19. February 2006, 01:19

@Scott --> menu has nothing to do with the skin. You should probably ask on the customization forum

schumpert 19. February 2006, 05:50

Ok, sorry to bother with it here. I will go to the forum thank you.

Jakub81 19. February 2006, 23:33

22sas 5. April 2006, 14:54

where's the bookmark star button? gota have it.

Moose 5. April 2006, 18:49

@22sas: I removed it during the time when bookmark icon was embedded, and irremoveable from the address bar. Now that it is behaving in a user-friendly way, I will return it. Thanks for reminding me

rcuser 6. June 2006, 11:49

where's the web note button?

rasquire 18. June 2006, 19:53

A great skin and always among my small collection. But it's no longer the smallest non-native skin... Ximple/Cimple now have that honour

Stoen 19. June 2006, 04:04

The standard Widgets icon looks a bit garish compared to the rest of the skin, especially when you use different colour schemes

Moose 19. June 2006, 09:55

Stoen - accident by the way. The custom icon got lost for some reason. I'll fix.

Moose 19. June 2006, 10:00

@Stoen: Should work now.

@Rasquire: looks like :smile:

Stoen 20. June 2006, 03:26

Cheers, great skin btw

mrWoot 13. August 2006, 05:04

Moose, the buttons on the bottom right (the navagation buttons) do not work for me. I just see the icons, but nothing works. Everything else is working, except those. They are grayed out. I can't click on them. I can't do anything with them. Suggestions?

Moose 24. August 2006, 03:33

mrWoot:

these will become active IF a given site has head links with relevant relationships defined. Most (crappy) sites do not have those, and thus the icons are disabled. The better the navigational structure of a site, the more complete is the linkage, and the more you can use the icons. In text-only browsers, these special links appear before the content of the page, enabling users to navigate before the site efficiently.

komitlak 20. October 2006, 07:59

There are so many skins out there, but I like this one BEST. Ty for sharing it.

yagotta 8. November 2006, 15:37

Geez, moose, I have just criticised you in the desktopteam blog. This was obviously premature - hope you can live with it ;-)

Thanx for updating your fine theme, and many thanks for your work on the GUI. Will it be possible to get your flat files for customized menus, keyboards, mice, aso. from just one place?

I do appreciate your work, which helps make Opera a highly usable browser.

At present, I am huntin all over Gran' Ol' Opry _and_ your Operawiki
http://operawiki.info/MooseCSS
not to forget your site...
http://lofotenmoose.info/opera/
in order to be able to use your fine setup in a well-integrated way. But the integration is still to be done by hand, which is definitely error-prone on my (user) side.

Could you publish your config files in a set?

Moose 9. November 2006, 07:43

There is no way to offer a single installable file. I can upload an archive of all ini files, including opera6.ini, and put some minstructions for use. But then, the paths are UNIX-specific, and I am not sure it is a good idea to apply someone's settings in bulk (since I tend to change plenty).

If you only need installable ini files, this becomes less problematic.

Changing dialog.ini or english.lng requires reassessment before upgrade, as these files are vital to the operation of the browser (unlike installable ini files). So, using them requires constant work on the part of the user, and is not recommended for anyone apart from those who are willing to keep track of changes.

Zalien 10. January 2007, 10:34

"Dude, where's your website?"
Hey, man! Are you still there? If so, would you like to drop a note anywhere to explain whatever happened to your site? A lot of opera recources link to it, you know? :sherlock:

Happy New Year :hat: :wizard:

Moose 13. January 2007, 03:33

How is it related to the skin?

See two topics above yours for an address.

Darken 25. January 2007, 21:10

Excellent, thanx for the update.

aimzz 26. January 2007, 02:27

 Thanks for the update, Moose!

Ice Nine 26. January 2007, 21:28

This is about the only theme that I use except the default. Even in plain grey it is the best. --Norman Hunter

Moose 27. January 2007, 04:41

I use plain grey myself on oonix

aimzz 28. January 2007, 01:48

I like to make it orange...

Darken 5. March 2007, 22:31

Thanx. :D

AleksOD 20. March 2007, 16:00

does the same slowdown affect Operas with different skins?

Moose 20. March 2007, 16:04

Yes, standard skin included.

Darken 20. March 2007, 18:50

Thanx for the update!

AleksOD 21. March 2007, 02:42

Thanks, Moose. So that means that it is the Speed Dial itself that is responsible for the slowdown, not the skin... :frown:

Also, the skin is very good, even for non-designer folk like me  although I do get buttons jumping in the address bar since I have selected to show page progress there. Will there be a fix for that? Thanks.

A.

Darken 12. April 2007, 19:06

Thanx for the update. Changelog?

Moose 12. April 2007, 19:11

It's there... Removed speeddial overrides to fasten it up a bit (9.2 has changed the implementation a bit, so it's not as resource-hungry as it used to be). What is left is the child0 for close buttons and the config dialog. The rest is standard.

Darken 12. April 2007, 22:27

Ah ok.

tomu 13. April 2007, 03:10

SalmanTheGreat 30. January 2008, 10:07

A very cool skin, but Somehow my tooltips which opera shows when I hover the mouse over an hyperlinks are disabled in this skin.

Can anyone please tell me how to enable it.?

I have been to opera's knowledge base and used both the steps,
in Prefs > Advanced > Browsing > SHOW TOOLTIPS
and Edited the Opera.ini file.
Source < http://www.opera.com/support/search/view/714/ >

Still the tooltips are not displayed. Can anyone tell me why?

Moose 31. January 2008, 18:56

Tooltips may not show if you have status bar enabled. Is that the case?

Moose 31. January 2008, 19:02

Are you using Opera 9.5? This is how the skin tooltips look like here:

http://files.myopera.com/Moose/files/tooltip.png

Darken 2. February 2008, 23:12

Hummm, Start bar with black background.

Moose 2. February 2008, 23:15

Start bar? Wuzzat?

Darken 3. February 2008, 00:57

Euh, are you serious?

Moose 3. February 2008, 02:38

No, it's the most useless piece of UI.

Fixed the skin, btw.

Darken 3. February 2008, 06:26

Useless for you, not for me.

Darken 3. February 2008, 06:27

Oh, thanks for the fix.

AleksOD 6. February 2008, 19:56

I would have to agree with Darken on the usefulness of the Start bar - I can't live without it!

st_frank 26. March 2008, 10:58

Been using this skin from time to time and think it's great.

Any chance of a version without the stripes?

chris34 26. March 2008, 11:27

is there a bug with contact pics? not loaded anymore

Moose 26. March 2008, 12:00

@chris34 - should be fixed now

@st_frank - replace 'e/browser.png' in the skin with a flat image, and rezip the archive

chris34 26. March 2008, 15:47

confirmed, thanks.

ralfonat 12. June 2008, 17:12

After Opera 9.5 was released and the old BluesM skin had some glitches I found the link to this one via the comments.

I am *so* glad this one is still actively being developed. You rock!!

Why not submit it to the Opera skin site?

aimzz 20. June 2008, 03:10

In the last update & this one, my Personal Bar icons suddenly became tiny. Last time I reverted to an older Designer version but don't know if it's an option with 9.5. Nobody else has mentioned this change... Is it something I did? Am I being punished for liking orange???
:insane:

aimzz 20. June 2008, 03:31

Hmmm... for some reason, I can't edit my comment, but wanted to add the specific version numbers. The Personal Bar icons are tiny in Designer 74_0 & 75_0. I went back to Designer 59_0. Is there a magic ini change I can use to resize the icons? Why only in the Personal bar? The Main hasn't changed. I don't use any of the others

Moose 21. June 2008, 01:01

@ralfonat ~ this _is_ the Opera skin site

@aimzz ~ can you upload the old version (one that works for you) somewhere and post an URL here? That will surely help. I may be late with reply, as I will be traveling in Greenland until the end of June.

aimzz 22. June 2008, 07:06

@Moose

Greenland! I'm green with envy p: (sorry)

The Personal Bar icon size is fine in designer-59_0.zip. The icons are tiny in designer-74_0.zip & designer-76_0.zip

I uploaded designer-59_0.zip to my account. Let's see if it will attach to this post...

1dance3.gif

designer-59_0.zip

The system wouldn't let me edit my last post-- If the file doesn't attach, I'll have to resort to Plan B (after I figure out what it is)

aimzz 22. June 2008, 07:14

Still can't edit my post, but it looks like it worked. Let me know if there's a problem.

And no rush... enjoy your trip!

Thanks

Moose 17. July 2008, 17:25

Well, I enabled the personal bar in the latest skin as of this writing, and the icons are not tiny, they are normal. In other words, WFM, I cannot reproduce.

aimzz 27. July 2008, 04:23

I must have a strange setting in one of my mod files-- just put Opera on a new laptop & there's no problem. On my old PC, the Personal Bar icons are as expected & others are tiny-- like I said above, there's a difference even between the older & newer versions of Designer. Wonder what I did to it???
Will work it out eventually... p:

Staretz 13. September 2008, 17:14
