Plastik style and Crystal icons from KDE-HiCrystal (thanks to SoeDib and Cohelo), default KDE 3.4 color theme.

After so long an update: added tabs trash, basic support for speed dial (alas! mostly stolen from oxygen project) and some fixes. Graphic glitches not fixed (yet).

Pretty nice. Which color theme does it match? It doesn't quite match the KDE default. The tabs on the pagebar are pretty borked if you put the pagebar at the bottom instead of the top. Good plastik theme  Just wish we didn't have to do a new theme each time the KDE default changes hehe

Lorenzo Paulatto 29. October 2005, 00:32

I took the screenshots that were used for the theme from suse 10.0, but I have customized my KDE setup during the last years: maybe it is not the kde default. I use the skin with no color theme.

I will fix the pagebar problem as soon as possible (I didn't know that pagebar could be put on bottom, now I see it is the tabs are borked even on right and on left).

Many thanks.

Awesome skin...very clean and professional look. Definitely one of my favorites, especially when I add the "sand" color tint and use the olive green xp colors.

Lorenzo Paulatto 29. October 2005, 16:59

As MamiyaOtaru noticed this skin does not usa the default KDE color theme, but the SUSE 10.0 one.

This skin will be shortly renamed PlastikOpera-SUSE and I will add a new PlastikOpera which use the default KDE color theme.

Most of the recolouring job was done by a gimp script.

Truly wonderful skin. Amazing work you put into this. I'm particularly fond of the tab shape and shading. (It is so obvious to see which tab is the active tab - a problem with many skins.) Unfortunately it has two problems. If you fixed them it might become my favorite. First: The buttons on the panel bar have WAY too much space between them. Second and more importantly: The pagebar tabs have too much padding around the title, so when I have a lot of tabs open, I can't read their icons and titles. I frequently open 14 or more tabs and with your skin I can only see a few letters, whereas I can get a whole word while using other skins. It is possible to see a lot more of the title than you allow with your skin.

Please improve this! I wouldn't ask, if I didn't really love it enough to make it my standard skin.

I've been using your PlastikOpera <no version number> skin, and I like its button shading effects much more -- i.e., the effect that occurs when hovering over the button. In v1.11, there's a shading on the side of the button that I find looks a little odd.

It could be the way my graphics card renders it, but for now, I'll stick with your original PlastikOpera

Lorenzo Paulatto 3. November 2005, 22:35

I have reduce several paddings and margins in 1.12 version (I will upload it in the next minutes).

P.S. I wish to remark that most of the artwork is just copied from the original KDE theme.

NoSanninWa 4. November 2005, 05:24

Thank you so much! This is now my newest favorite skin! There are only 2 skins that seriously compete with its greatness. (Emil_RSD and Freestyle are your only rivals.) It is now perfect in my eyes.

Bill P 4. November 2005, 15:40

Like others I truly like the look and how it matches with my KDE theme but like so many other skins the vertical space wasted is sinful. I would suggest/request you look at the Opera Standard Compact Edition skin to see how much much space can be reclaimed without making the toolbars looking crapmed.

thanks,

RA Squire 5. November 2005, 01:58

I've been using your original version of the skin. I prefer the button shading effect (during mouse hover); versions 1.10 onward have a vertical shading effect that looks a little odd, I find, whereas your original skin has only the horizontal shading.

Lorenzo Paulatto 5. November 2005, 14:40

I think the sister skin (PlastikOpera-SUSE) still behaves the other way.

Scooty Five 6. November 2005, 03:25

Is there *any* chance of this theme being done with Nuvola icons from http://www.icon-king.com?

Lorenzo Paulatto 6. November 2005, 22:06

It would take to match nearly 100 icons and 100 buttons from the original kde icons to the Opera ones. It is easy to do but takes pretty a lot of time(maybe 5 or more hours), I think there are few chances I'll wish to do it in a near future.

You can do it yourself if you wish. You have to unzip the theme file (you can find it in $HOME/.opera/skin), then replace the images that you find in the directories buttons/, icons/, extra_buttons/ and caption/ with icons of you choice (usually you have to edit some of them, e.g. private_chat.png can be a copy of chat.png with different colors).

At last zip it all back.

If you (or someone else) wish to port the theme to a different set of icons please let me know so I can point you a dozen of icons wich are unused (and will be removed in next versions).

Armwheet 21. December 2005, 23:24

Cool skin, but I wonder - may you change icons to Crystal Clear iconset (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=25668)? And btw, there missing one icon for Go button.

shadowhat 24. April 2006, 18:24

Very nice, clean and simple. I will most likely use this for quite a while! :-)

anni_hrithik_143 8. June 2006, 23:07

Fantastic

Patera 16. June 2006, 13:10

What a great skin. This is by far my favourite skin. Everytime I upgrade Opera, I had to get this skin. It is better than the KDE HiCrystal skin, because it is more subtle and understated. All icons look fantastic, and matches their environmet perfectly. Well done!!!!

PS. just one wish, could you change the RSS feed icon to the regular "broadcasting dot" icon?

Lorenzo Paulatto 24. August 2007, 13:12

I am still alive, even if I don't have much time to contribute: if anew version of Opera makes this skin uncompatible or lacking some icon you can try to stimulate an update dropping me an email: paulax (chiocciola) email (punto) it

enjoy!

小小曹 11. January 2008, 08:12

Sven Eppler 15. November 2008, 00:12

Hi There!

Is there still development on this skin? I noticed that this skin misses a highlight in the STRG+TAB Window. So you don't know which window is selected (except you count yourself).

Rob 17. October 2009, 11:36

too big for my taste
