Web page changing browser search field.
Would a web page have the capability to change Opera's search engine field to one linking to the page's own search service? The answer is probably no, but let me illustrate a use case which struck me recently and prompted me come here to share the idea. You've got the interface to your website, say a mapping service, which has a search engine returning lists of places. When the user accesses the mapping site Opera's search field changes icon and text to that specified by the page. Searches made in the browser chrome brings forward results as a list on the page and markers on the map.
There's probably quite a few sites out there with their own search engines which could hand over the search to the browser chrome. Remembering how one could drag and drop the del.ici.ous links to the bookmarks bar, this interaction between the web page and browser doesn't seems plausible.
