Don't send everything typed in error to Opera/Google

A troublesome pattern I have noticed is that newer versions of Opera like to send what I type or load in error to Opera/Google. That's fine if I'm typing in the search field. I would like a standard user preference (in the preferences dialog) to globally disable all use of Google outside of the search field.

Examples of things that I don't want to go to Google:
1) I have a tab open to a web site that requires a VPN connection to my company to access, but I am not connected to VPN. Opera unhelpfully gives suggestions based on the URL I can't access. For example if I'm connecting to a sever called hunting.mycompany.com it will give links related to hunting. At the bottom of the suggestion page there is a link to an obscure option setting in opera:config. This option setting should not be hidden away - it should be well exposed in the normal preferences dialog

2) I type something in the address field that is not a URL a Google search is performed. Please let me disable this.

Perhaps I have missed some settings somewhere, otherwise please add some more visible settings to control this sort of thing.

1) + 1/2. the search field on the error page is good, the search suggestions that are loaded are not.

I have just found this thread from searching for a solution to the same problem. By some means I have unfortunately forgotten, I managed to disable this feature in previous versions of Opera. Now, however, after upgrading to Opera 12, the problem is back. If I try to visit a web page which is temporarily unavailable because the server is down, for instance, I don't just get a plain error page; I get a page inviting me either to submit the entire failed URL to a google search, or to try a bunch of link suggestions which it mistakenly thinks are relevant.

I don't want this. I don't want anything submitted to Google unless I deliberately perform a search. I've turned off everything I can find relating to automatic searches, but either I've missed something or the option just isn't there...

What makes it worse is that the link to opera:config mentioned by the quoted poster is not there any more...
