Opera "extension" for transloading images using ImageShack

Hi everyone,

I assume that most of you have heard of ImageShack - a great free image hosting service. :-)

Recently, they've released a Firefox extension allowing you to transload images directly by right-clicking on them and selecting an option from the context menu. Since I'm no Firefox fan, I semi-duplicated this functionality using the search.ini in Opera.

I don't know much about using menu.ini (correct? :-\) but I think this may be possible to do using that, as well, for a more seamless experience. Anyway, you can download the search.ini entry from my blog (direct link to the entry here), and if you have any comments, please leave them there. Thanks! :-)

Hi! This doesn't work on Opera 9.6. I think something went wrong with the "%c" thing, it might be another variable.

Have you tried ImageShack's JavaScript bookmark? ImageShack Sidebar is but one tool available.

But -I suspect- what you really want is a right-click menu option that makes use of your FTP id. (I'll look into it...)

Stahn, it seems to work fine for me in Opera 9.63. Are you sure you copied it to the currently active menu setup?
OakdaleFTL, the sidebar is fine for uploading one's own images from one's own computer, but the point of this menu item is to transload; in other words, just by right-clicking on any image in Opera and selecting the menu item from the context menu, the user instantly tells ImageShack to grab the pic directly from another server (without the user having to save it locally and then upload it). This is useful, for example, when you don't want to hotlink an image from the original source -- either to be considerate to the person hosting the original image file by avoiding stealing his bandwith, or, if that's not enough incentive, because some servers are configured to prevent the practice by substituting an error image if an image is hotlinked.

Transloading to ImageShack with just two clicks is very convenient, so thank you, yokey.

Is that also possibly with a link to imageshack account (member account). I found no command parameter to integrate the 'Account code' each registered member has.
Other possibility is to make a Menu Entry to use Rightload.
Any ideas?

Just since this hasn't been touched in a while, going to go ahead and post to say it works perfectly in Opera 10.62.

Seems to work, but only sporadically, in Opera 11.01. For example, ImageShack gives an error message ("Failed to determine remote content type for transload URL") when I tried to upload this:

http://colorvisiontesting.com/plate%20with%205.jpg

I just did a Google Images search for "test". That was the first result. Could it be because of the spaces in the URL?

===================

Also, I'm using this for the image popup menu:

Item, "Upload to ImageShack" = Copy image address & Go to page, "http://imageshack.us/transload.php?url=%c"

Now, I don't want identical behavior on the image link popup menu. I want the new URL to go in a new background tab. I tried to 'reverse-engineer' the behavior with this modification:

Item, "Upload to ImageShack" = Copy image address & Open link in background page, "http://imageshack.us/transload.php?url=%c"

It doesn't work. How do I format it correctly so that it will work as I want it to? Thanks in advance.

I know it may be a little off the topic, but everyone should give Imagus a try - it can, among other things, upload (or transload, if you say so) an image to a hosting of your choice.
