We're always interested in seeing what people come up with. If your buttons or banners are good, we'd love to put them among our current ones.

Yeah, I'll subscribe to this thread and you can just post them here. You can also send me a My Opera message if you want to really get my attention.

The banners are on my.opera.com (Choose Opera > Banners and buttons).
You mean the banners are here:
http://my.opera.com/community/promote/buttons/
My point was: the search doesn't work.
Really bad error if your promoting something.
web designer searches > finds nothing > going to do something else > 10 000+ banner views waisted = 1000$ in free advertisement.
That would worry me a lot! But thanks for helping me.
BTW..
Is there some way to hide the banner advertisement from (already) Opera users? Any other advertisement or content would be better.

Maybe some one can draw me a big one? 400X300
I just found this, I think it's the best banner I've ever seen.

It'd be nice to have some Opera Ads to throw into my rotation.
I was thinking of rotating opera banners as alternate ad.

I really think more information about the features would be more useful as a banner.
An Opera adserver should supply us with the standard adsense formats so we only have to past the url in the adsense form.
728 X 90 sounds better as 18 X 80. Just as much as A mini website would be better as a button. Opera already knows how to design very awesome mini websites. Now I want one in a google ad frame. ^_^ It can even serve different content to different browsers.
It should (of course) also work in an iframe. Things like A tip of the day in 468x60. Just design it in a way so we can be lazy at our adsense dashboard.
(Not that I would want that but) If I put to much adds on a new page with only a little bit of content most of the addblocks will stay empty and it will mess up the page. So, the adsense users have to find a balance to make sure the blocks that they use are always full.
Simply put, A 5 word blog posting with some images spawns empty ads. This actually is annoying, I would much prefer to show off Opera coolness in stead.

Yeah I guess I was. I was used to searching things from the address bar with the keywords. So I just typed "O banners" hoping to find this knowledge.
I'm all new here so I was confused by the different searches. Opera.com gives other results.
Maybe the knowledge base could have an option to search opera.com from the same search box. Having 2 search boxes on one page like that looks odd.

I have no idea the other box is something else? All I know is that I got here from the browser search keyword "O"

Hell yeah, it's better as Firefox.
never type your passwords
never type your user names
Track & sort all your rss feeds
Use the mouse gestures
Use keyboard commands
Zoom that page
Save your sessions
Continue surfing where you left off
Make mouse gestures with links
Dive into greasemonkey

I'm still in the process of finding a suitable place to put them online (I'm thinking of a section for "Fan Buttons / Art". But yes, they're very good. Keep up the good work!

Does anyone know if we are allowed to use the blog space for hotlinking banners?

I looked at the one posted by gabydewilde a couple of messages up, because all I had to do was click on it. To look at yours I have to download a .zip, expand it, look at the individual files. I could do that but it turns out to be more effort than I'm willing to do at that moment.Brian already said that he will put when we are done buttons somewhere in current banner section. You are making every reader perform that same calculation. Some will do it, some won't. If you posted a link to a web page with all the images inline, a higher percentage of readers would look at them -- and you would get more feedback.

Your My Opera account would be a great place to host them for now.
Also - once we get a fan submitted buttons page up, which would you most like to see on there? We'd like to put them all up, but it might be a bit overwhelming.
I'd personally like to see some My Opera Community buttons.

One page as an index where you will make list of sizes where each one will open on new page with selection of banners of that size, and maybe also static / animated categories..
I believe that most of the users will use smaller banners so I will make some more of those soon (need to get some sleep... worked too many hours these last days)...
For those huge banner sizes... Maybe i can make something static since animated would probably be to "heavy".. If anyone has an idea what he would like to see on those speak up and I'll try to make them... I had some ideas with screenshoting real opera layout and adding some stuff but the ideas are incomplete... so suggestions are welcome..
Anyway.. I'm gone, and when I'm back I will make sure to prepare something about commynity... and maybe make some sort of preview page for banners on my blog... we will see...

Now that I've spent the time to look at them... I really like the last two 120x240's with the floral backgrounds. Animated banners are actively ignored by my eyes -- if they're distracting enough I'll whip out the kill-elements script and blow them off the page. So I would recommend concentrating on non-animated banners...

I agree about animated ones, especially when there are more than one on the page like there...
Anyway... I'm off to bed
Saturday, 22. October 2005, 09:04:06
Tried making banners, but except for the 80x15, no luck..
If anyone has ideas or something made to share, he is welcome..
I'll be making panels, wallpapers as i did last few days...

Someone with artistic talent should be able to do much more cooler things - just download Inkscape (inkscape.org).

Hm, works for me with IE and the Adobe SVG Viewer...
Or are you making a crack about SVG support? You realize that all formats have this chicken-and-egg problem right? What's the problem with putting banners in formats up that some browsers support?
