Opera Kitty Names

Some may have heard that the Opera offices now have two more people...well, kittens actually. Vetler has blogged about how these little creatures ended up here, so be sure to get the full story.
These little guys are now spending a good deal of time with us to ensure they are cared for adequately, as they need to be hand-fed for the next few weeks. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We can't keep going around calling these guys "the kittens" or "little creatures"...they need names. We're asking the Opera community for help in the process. If you have a suggestion, post about it here and in the end, we'll choose our favorite (or if the kittens can figure out a way to communicate, we'll let them choose their own names).

How about giving them dog names? Pooch, Rex, Fido.... something like that? I think it'd be funny.

If we're naming our animal companions, when will we name the server monkeys?

If one sits on the desk all the time then call it desktop and if the other runs around a lot then call it mobile. (Opera Desktop and Opera Mobile)

It may be too soon to determine their habits yet. Those look to be less than 6 weeks old - much less - and hence they may not be very active yet. Though perhaps you'll know if one is a "laptop".

Stuff and Nonsense

A neighbour gave us two adorable fluffy kittens, both male, and we called them Stuff and Nonsense.
It wasn't until Stuff presented us with a litter of the most astonishingly disparate kittens that we realised that they were NOT both male, and that they had no strong beliefs about incest.

I suggested in another thread we should name one Murko, in honor of radostsguy's cat who died earlier this year.

If I had a cat, I would name it Stalin. On its food tray I would write 'faces of the capitalist pig-dogs' and on its litterbox I would write 'human rights.'

Or maybe I would name it Mr. Rabbit, just to confuse people.

Opera Kittys name them after operas

Carmen, Mimi - Female

Rodoflo, Pagliacci - Male

Ripley & Newt
which must make me Alien...

Ripley died recently, & I'm only partway used to it. She was ~13. :worried:
When the PC does something strange, 1st step in troubleshooting is to see if Newt has her chin on the Ctrl key...

watch out I have a couple of kittens whose mother died when they were very small and they used to suck on each other. The worst one sucked on himself in the middle of the night and woke me up. They seem to have outgrown it now.

Friday, 14. October 2005, 21:23:08

:ko: Doh! I started the thread in the middle-- thought we were telling each other the names of our cats. I'll have to think about the kitties of the thread...

Saturday, 15. October 2005, 00:50:23

Are they male or female kittens? Though it can be hard to tell...our current kittens' mother was once named "Herb"

Opera Software
hmm.. Even though all my cats have always been named 'billy' (pronounced "Bill-lee" the hindi word for cat)
I have a few ideas..

How about - Tribbiani and Bing

Or even! - The Duck and the The Chick

For something simpler you could choose - Op and Ra

How about Agent J and Agent K?

meowsera and meowseri? or even "meowser" and "the other meowser"

From the blog in the first post: "There were two cats, one girl and a boy, and the boy has now been adopted by Jesper and his girlfriend Katie. It's been named Merlin."

keep them way from cars...

then again they arn't orange kittens...

I have personally known three orange cat one had a habbit of sunning himself on the highway and got run over. The other two run under cars when they arn't running. It is like the puppy days all over again... only the puppies eventially got too big to fit under a car...

I used to live in an area that had alot of stray cats and dogs that ran wild. I had a Ford Bronco in the driveway that was inoperative and I rarely got around. I was surprised one day when I open the door for some reason, and heard a kitten meowing under the dash. I got a sharp bite on my hand, when I pulled him out. I still don't have any idea how he could have gotten in, unless someone put him there.

Why? Because I didn't adopt it, or because I didn't kill it? I really don't care much for cats, but kittens are cute. This one was lucky, because it was still a kitten.

Wednesday, 19. October 2005, 12:48:47

No because you get bit by a little kitten and think there must be a chunk of your finger missing!
