Anyone had any luck printing Paypal, EBay, Amazon, Post Office shipping labels?

All I get is a pop-up window that says "Page not available" and I have to pursue the refund.

Anyone been able to print the shipping labels that the Post Office, Paypal, Amazon and Ebay have set up to print at home (so you don't have to stand in line at the Post Office) ?

Thanks
Lindsey

I could print mailing labels in Opera 10.50 perfectly for years.
Then I made the mistake of upgrading to Opera 11.51 and can no longer print out mailing labels for Paypal, Ebay, Amazon.
Afterwards I loaded back up Opera 10.50 but Paypal, Ebay and Amazon labels failed to print out the labels in the right size!
I am using MS IE to print all my post office mailing labels.
Opera does not work right anymore the new version is too slow.
Google Chrome was dancing circles around my Opera 11.51 last night off youtube.
Also, export / convert your Opera bookmarks to a HTML file called called something like myfavs.html.
Then import your file into your MS IE. Then tell ur Google Chrome to import the MSIE Book Marks.
Google Chrome only imports MS IE bookmarks.
I am going to try mailing labels with Google Chrome in a couple days.
I think Google is trying to kill off other browsers but I am not sure?

Hi fairbro,
I've heard rumours of this problem for years, but since I'm not in the U.S. I apparently don't get to see the functionality or something. I've never been able to find a feature calling print shipping label anyway. I assume you first post an auction, then sell it and finally the site gives you some link or feature that lets you create a "shipping label" and print it?

Yes. You can't print shipping labels without going through a service first, be it Paypal, Amazon, eBay, Bonanza, stamps.com, or direct from USPS. etc. Since these are US Postal Service labels, of course they won't do anyone in another country any good. UPS and Fedex and DHL are worldwide, you might be able to print their labels. Or ask your post office if it has this capability

I upgraded my computer and I'm using Chrome now.

Before that, I upgraded Opera, and I think I recall printing out some labels, but no consistently, such as not printing when I was trying to do a label direct from Paypal, and printing okay when going through eBay.

Another thing I could never get a straight answer from Paypal and eBay was, would the label print if there was insufficient money in your Paypal account, or would Paypal try your Paypal-connected bank to get the label costs? The confusion because their help were unable to provide an answer, and their website programming does not give you an error message - if the label does not print, you don't know if it's bad programming by eBay, eBay's bank Paypal, the browser Opera, or the US Postal Service (which has ultimate say-so), or because of your browser preferences, your O/S, or if it's because they didn't go through your bank, just to your Paypal account, whatever, no print and no error messages.

I like Opera because it's fast, but my revamped computer is fast enough to let me use Chrome now,. After a few unprinted labels, including a couple for $30-$50 for overseas shipments, I don't want to make a habit of this, the PO might think I'm running a scam!

Even with Chrome, I still can't print overseas labels from USPS, but they will print from eBay. So I use Mozilla for them. IE is a last resort, I don't like to support Microsoft monopolies. smile

I have made a grid, with x, y coordinates - Amazon, eBay , Paypal, USPS, and then crosswise US and Foreign, and also noted browsers Chrome, Opera, Firefox, so I can tell which ones to avoid. Of course, when you upgrade your browser, like you said, everything changes...

All I have been able to figure out is to take a screen shot and print the screen shot. But yes, nothing happens when I select PRINT to print shipping labels in opera. Thats with pop up blocker disabled and Enable Content Blocking disabled.

Through some helpful colleagues and users I've been able to take a look at the code. It boils down to: Opera sucks, site sucks. We have a bug that prevents printing specific frames, the site uses browser sniffing that happens to exclude Opera from even trying. (This looks more like a coincidence than any purposeful Opera blocking - they "target" IE and Netscape (!) so the sniffing is probably left over from the web stone age or something.)

Can I ask some of you to test a workaround?

1) Try to open a new tab for the shipping label stuff:
a) When you see the shipping label, is it an image you can right-click and open? Hold shift-click and select "Open image" from the right-click menu for a new tab.
b) If you don't get an image right-click menu, can you choose "Frame > Open in new tab" from the right-click menu to see the shipping label correctly?

2) If either step 1a or 1b gave you a new tab, will printing this tab through Opera's normal UI output the shipping label correctly?

Fixing this correctly in core and nagging the site to remove sniffing will take a while. I need to consider a workaround in browser.js, and your assistance testing the above experimental workarounds is much appreciated!

Edit: I suggest taking a screenshot first so that the shipping label can be printed from the screenshot if trying any of the above confuses the site. Hopefully I'm not causing anyone to loose money they paid for the shipping label by asking for help.. :-o

A pop up window opens and there is a SAMPLE shipping label image within the window. Above the sample image, there is a "print label" button. When clicking this button, nothing happens. Nothing happens when right clicking anywhere.

That doesn't sound too useful :-/ Not much point in coming up with a workaround that lets you print a SAMPLE label..

It would still be interesting to have a look at ALL the code if someone could save the page with the shipping label shown as a web archive and E-mail it to me.. You can use the hallvors at myopera com address. It might still be possible to find a workaround..
