hypocritic help

Some of countries in our continent are said to be the poorest, having high levels of unemployment and poverty. But funny enough, everytime we watch television one sees them carrying guns! Whom are they fighting? Are they fighting poverty with guns? NO! Is there a country out there who really looks for the real benefit of Africans? They help by giving them guns and ammunition to kill each other. Well, they deserve better. Give them education or skills.

How are you helping?

Africans are better off!!!

Simple.

Not too often we see threads that are meant to generate sympathy, protest and the apparent cleavage it subsequently condenses to. If Africa has got a problem, let them solve it. Help? It comes with anchors

Well if anyone else deserves to be qdded to the frustration it like people here and the tax money we dollop out in big bucket loads. Even in these trying economic times our government is upping the Overseas Aid Budget and making it a law it has to be a certain amount! As a taxpayer I find that damnable we are cutting other things back but we will dish out not just millions but now extra millions (when we will be having our own worries) to countries that were appealing 10, 20 years ago and forever.

It is like a bottomless pit and it is the most laguishing of the Continents. It is a sadness for the ordinary people that money goes on guns, military and the government officals. Not so long ago we had was it one or two Presidents spending millions of aid money on new Presidential jets. Yet even in these modarn times we have despots or Presidents who think they should be there for as long as they want as the self-believe they must be there. Money gets siphoned off and the circle goes round and round. There are a few places that look as if they might get out the mess but as a Continent it is lacking.

Well, things change! I never thought I would see the day when Thabotizz sees eye to eye with rjhowie.

Why are these people forking out guns instead of tractors or something beneficial? I mean they are only giving them a fish for a day and not teaching them how to fish.

I say they are hypocrites, Simple.

I don't know who "these people" are, but chances are "those people" give out money for e.g. infrastructure development which is then used by the recipients to buy weaponry. Now I think it's probably better to give nothing at all if that's the case, or perhaps to carefully oversee how it's applied, but it's a bit unfair to say the least to lay all the fault in "our" hands.

If they've got their hearts set on killing each other, they can probably do that without my help. I've heard more than enough about money and materials meant to buy bread and butter that instead gets converted to guns and bullets. Now the recipient wants to get an attitude on top of that. Frankly, if I had my way not one more dime would go there, we have more than sufficient troubles at home we need to be addressing.

You are irritating me treating mjmsprt40 as mjsmsprt37. I've said it already before at a gentle way, it seems that you didn't understand.
Now I'll say it with all the words. Your behavior doing that is unsupportable, proper of an idiot and only shows the lack of manners by you.
Stop doing it. I'm tired of seeing it.

Hold your horses there Belfrager, give him a break! But seriously, what kind of idiot exchanges bread and butter for guns? And what is more insulting is that some retard somewhere approves of that! It seems mjmsprt40 doesn't care how they kill each other but newsflash, Mr. Alien, nobody asked you to... care that is. No offence intended but no one in Africa knows you, they don't care if you care at all. Now, when a clown does not know- it means he really does not know! lol .

I have paid taxes and I have collected* and given money to charity. I wouldn't know if you've given anything to charity, but through taxes you have also contributed to development aid, even if South Africa only switched from receiving to giving around the introduction of the Euro. I imagine keloda might be able to tell us something about how e.g. Germany's economical aid package is working out. Considering all the Nigerians posting here on cellphones (something presumably unthinkable even 5 years ago) it can't be all that bad.

Nigeria is one of the world's fastest growing economies, expected to became the fastest growing one and is developing rapidly.

The OP isn't specific enough. What people are walking around with guns? In Nigeria, the person could afford it himself. In Somalia, the warlord probably either stole the weapons our purchased for his troops, terrorists (whatever one wants to call them) with ill gotten gains from piracy or drug trafficking.

I certainly agree that the continent needs education and skills, but first the true nature of the problem needs to be more clearly defined.

Imaging British Firms eye up lucrative contracts in Libya, after they together with US, France and co bombarded and destroyed the country with the help of indigenous rebels. What a hypocrisy!

It is a hypocrisy and oh, add the Italians as well. We should be keeping our nose out of the internal business of other countries.

If everyman took and kept what he could get from his fatherland inside his fatherland,i wonder what the west would have been. A land developed by the sweat and resources of Africa. Of course, they were spreading the good news with the whip and gun tucked in their right hand, the holy "look" in the left.

So how do you explain the modern day mess of Africa then? You cannot keep using this blinkered eye historical imperial stuff as an excuse? Many countries which were previously backward until the West arrived as soon as they got independence went back to their old traidtion of killing each other and settling tribal scores. I bet there are olf folk who wish the imperial days were back?!
