Computer Offline

I'm trying to access my desktop from my laptop.
I get the message my desktop is offline.
My desktop is "asleep." How can I wake up my sleeping desktop so I can get access to my desktop hard drive?

Your computer must be switched on for Opera Unite to function. It does not work when the machine is hibernating or sleeping.

Thanks for the reply:
Is there a BIOS setting , something like "wake on lan" or something, that I can set so my computer wakes when I access it through Opera United

No, unfortunately not. If you want your services to be available then the machine must be switched on. As with any other server services. You are the server, remember.

You can alternately get a cheap used laptop or a simple barebone PC, setup Opera Unite, and stick it in a closet near your modem/router. Wham: home media server. smile
